Aasiaat - The Elderly and Care Home/Home Help is looking for a First Caretaker

The Elderly and Care Home/Home Help is looking for 1 caretaker for employment on September 1, 2026, or by agreement.

“The Integrated Municipal Care Scheme” is a merger of the municipality's Care Home + home help and has 1 caretakers and 1 caretaker assistant and a caretaker assistant in a flex job, the nearest supervisor is the Director.

Responsibilities of the Caretakers

-Transport-, e.g., home helpers that need to be driven to further locations.

- The position includes caretaker tasks at the elderly home’s three current departments. Therefore, you will have your daily routine at several addresses. It is expected that you can drive between departments as needed.

• Driving and picking up goods.
• Minor repairs of furniture and maintenance as well as checking the house's inventory
• Minor repairs, maintenance, and checking of clients' aids
• Shopping for the residents
• Coordinator for the caretaker.
• You can expect to be on duty after normal working days including weekends & holidays

- That you work respectfully with and alongside the elderly

- Are stable and trustworthy

• You handle your tasks independently and explore new ideas
• Open and honest
• Have a driver's license

- It will help if you have knowledge of various tasks

Salary and employment conditions:

Working hours 80 hours/14 days, a driver's license is required.

If a driver's license is held by the home help's caretaker assistant, you will alternately work with the other caretaker and the home help's caretaker assistant on weekends and during public holidays according to the work schedule,

every 2nd or 3rd weekend you must be available for standby duty, this is compensated with a monthly supplement.

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between Naalakkersuisut and the negotiating organization at the time of commencement.

You should also expect to alternately work on public holidays with the other caretaker according to the work schedule. Every other weekend you must be available for standby duty, this is compensated with a monthly supplement.

Employment according to applicable collective agreements between Naalakkersuisut, the Ministry of Finance, and SIK for heating masters, caretakers, and vice caretakers.

Criminal Record:

This position is subject to the law on the obligation to obtain a criminal record. According to the law, employment can only begin when the municipality has received a criminal record. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon when the municipality has received the criminal record from the Police.

No staff housing can be provided
