Groenlandica, Greenland's national library is seeking a literature communicator for employment starting October 1, 2026. The position involves responsibility for literature communication, registration of materials, and loan duties. Knowledge of Greenlandic culture and library systems is an advantage.
Literature mediator sought for Groenlandica, Greenland's national library, for employment from October 1, 2026, or by agreement.
Groenlandica is a department under Nunatta Atuagaateqarfia and shares premises with Ilisimatusarfik's library at Ilimmarfik. We collect, register, and preserve public publications with the aim of preserving cultural heritage. Our scientific library contains books and journals on Greenlandic and Arctic conditions as well as topics that are significant for Greenlandic society.
Job responsibilities:
Responsible for requesting legal deposit materials from publishers
Responsible for requesting publications for loan use
Registration of both new and old materials
Literature dissemination - physical and digital
Preparation of information for book presentations
Responsible for minor translation tasks
Loan duties at Ilimmarfik library
We expect you to:
Have an education in Greenlandic culture, language, or literature
Knowledge of the library system Cicero LMS or other library systems is an advantage but not a requirement
Be systematic, thorough, and meticulous
Be service-minded and good at serving and communicating for different user groups
Have language skills in writing and speaking in Greenlandic and Danish
Communicate clearly and distinctly in writing as well as verbally
About us:
We are organizationally divided into 4 teams: Team Groenlandica, Team Nunarput, Team Experiences, and Team Service. A library that is the driving force behind many cultural and literature dissemination events, including author events and the annual cultural night. In addition, we like to make our mark in the city's other cultural life, e.g., Suialaa Arts Festival.
Salary and employment conditions
Salary - and employment terms, including the right to relocation and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement applicable at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
Housing
No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
