Support Person

The all-day school is seeking support persons for full-time positions of 40 hours per week. The school offers specialized education for children with special needs from grades 1 to 10. Responsibilities include social pedagogical support, training in independence, and participation in meetings. Education as a support person or a pedagogical background is desired.

The positions are full-time positions of 40 hours per week.

Briefly about the All-Day School:

The all-day school is an offer for children whose needs cannot be met in the general school system. The goal is to provide specialized schooling from 1st to 10th grade for children who require an increased special educational effort, which should promote their personal, social, and academic development and prepare them for adult life. There are 17 classes with a total of 53 students and 28 teachers.

The leisure part:

The all-day school strives to create a cohesive school day for the students. This means that learning activities take place all day from 8:00 AM to 3:50 PM. The academic part of the school day primarily occurs between 8:00 AM and 1:00 PM. In the period after 1:00 PM, there are activities such as movement, students work creatively, play games, and much more. There is a particular focus on training social skills.

We expect that you are:

·Trained as a support person or has an educational background preferably with supplementary knowledge of diagnoses and disabilities. Or unskilled with experience in working with children and young people preferably with practical skills in providing support.

·Robust, patient, friendly, good at collaboration, stable, responsible, and respectful

Can take responsibility and work independently

·Willing to collaborate with colleagues and parents, and you are open to engaging in pedagogical discussions about our work.

Essential work tasks:

·Generally support and train the child with a disability in relation to their mental, physical, and social development.

·Provide social pedagogical support according to the goals set out in the child's action plan.

Help the child with daily tasks.

Train the child in increased independence.

·Participate in staff meetings

·Participate in supervision

·Participate in status meetings with the administration and parents

Preparation of status report

Being bilingual in Greenlandic and Danish is an advantage, but not a requirement.

Criminal and Child Certificate:

The position is covered by the law on the obligation to obtain criminal and child certificates. According to the law, employment can only begin once the municipality has received satisfactory criminal and child certificates. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the child certificate from the National Police as well as the criminal record from the Police.

The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal record is obtained by the individual from the police.

Salary and employment conditions:

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Government of Greenland, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of appointment between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

The employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.
