The Municipality of Sermersooq is seeking 4 skilled teachers for Atuarfik Tuiisaq Paamiut, starting on August 1, 2026.

Atuarfik Tuiisaq is a public school located in Paamiut with approximately 160 students ranging from the youngest to the oldest grade levels. The school has dedicated and academically skilled teachers as well as other educational staff. The school is an important gathering point in the town and places a high value on well-being, professionalism, and good collaboration with parents and the local community.

Development focus:

Atuarfik Tuiisaq is currently in the implementation phase of Project-Based Learning (PBL) in close collaboration with the administration. The school is focused on developing the teaching to better support students' active participation, interdisciplinary approaches, creativity, and real-world learning. The school principal plays a central role in leading, supporting, and anchoring this pedagogical development process in close interaction with staff and administration.

Atuarfik Tuiisaq has been a single-track school for the past few years with a total of 11 classes from 1st to 10th grade and 1 special class. The school is divided into 3 levels: the youngest level includes 1st to 3rd grades, the middle level includes 4th to 7th grades, and the oldest level includes 8th to 10th grades. The number of students fluctuates between 155-170 during a school year. The school's staff consists of 18 teachers, a school principal, a vice principal, an office clerk, a janitor, an assistant janitor, and cleaning staff.

Atuarfik Tuiisaq is currently undergoing a major renovation, so patience will be a virtue.

Job content: We are looking for a trained teacher - instructor to join the teaching team and take on the tasks associated with a teaching team.

• Preparation and teaching in the middle and upper grades
• Follow-up on each student's teaching plan
• Evaluation of each student with the teaching team several times a year
• Participate in educational meetings
• Participate in weekly teacher meetings
• Participate in the joint activities

The tasks are solved in close collaboration with the teaching team and the department head.

Criminal and Child Certificate:

The position is covered by the law on the obligation to obtain criminal and child certificates. According to the law, employment can only begin once the municipality has received satisfactory criminal and child certificates. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the child certificate from the National Police as well as the criminal certificate from the Police.

The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal record is obtained by the individual from the police.

Salary and employment conditions:

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Government of Greenland, according to the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of appointment between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

The employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.

Housing:

Housing can be provided for the position, for which a deposit and rent, utilities, etc. will be paid according to the applicable rules for rent payments in the Greenland Self-Government and the municipality's properties in Greenland. If a permanent staff housing cannot be made available immediately upon taking up the position, employees entitled to temporary housing will be offered a temporary accommodation, for which rent, utilities, etc. will be paid according to the above. The start date is dependent on when a staff accommodation becomes available. A relocation travel allowance and moving expenses for household goods are provided in accordance with applicable regulations.
