Director of Finance and Education

The Director of Economy and Education must have a cohesive force for two areas, which are the economy and education sectors in Sisimiut and Maniitsoq. In these areas, there are department heads who must help ensure good strategic development in the sectors.

The work as Director of Economy and Education will therefore be characterized by high professional quality and will go hand in hand with an increasing focus on good economic development in the Municipality and educational efforts that prioritize cross-cutting and coherent initiatives.

A leader is expected who, based on a high personal integrity and a natural authority, is able to exercise a quality-oriented and dialogue-based leadership style while maintaining focus on the overarching political and administrative objectives.

Qeqqata Municipality has a solid economy and focuses on strict financial management and efficiency. The municipality also places special emphasis on developing the public school with initiatives in differentiated teaching, digitalization, language, school-home collaboration, and leadership development.

Work and areas of responsibility:

• Ensure the translation of political and administrative objectives into concrete efforts and initiatives in the areas of education, labor market, and leisure, as well as in the economic sector.
• Ensure lawful administrative practice and support the execution and follow-up of political visions, decisions, and plans aimed at effective solutions and sustainable results.
• Overall management and financial control. This includes being a guarantor for effective financial management and appropriate resource utilization with a focus on strategy, development, and improvements.
• Initiate and follow up on the development of organization, collaboration, processes, and task solving.
• Ensure that there is a flow in the work in all parts of Qeqqata Municipality's administration and make sure that everyone knows which direction Qeqqata Municipality is heading.

Qualifications:

• You have a master's degree and management experience.
• Has good professional experience in economics.
• Has good professional experience in management within education and pedagogy.
• Natural authority and dynamics. A visible top leader.
• You have experience with financial management and structuring.
• You are good at collaborating and influencing your surroundings.
• You have experience with or are willing to develop the Economy and Education sector.
• You can work purposefully in a dual-cultural environment.
• You are preferably multilingual, Greenlandic, Danish, and English.

Salary and employment conditions: Salary and employment relations are in accordance with the agreements and collective agreements in force at any given time between the Naalakkersuisut and your negotiating organization.

The Director of Economy and Education is administratively located in Sisimiut and organized under the Municipal Director in Sisimiut.
