Committee Secretary/Administrative Officer

Dedicated and skilled committee secretary/administrative officer sought for political support in the Management Secretariat. You will have a coordinating role with responsibility for agendas for political processing and meeting planning. The position requires relevant education and the ability to work in a structured manner. Knowledge of Greenlandic is an advantage, but not a requirement.

Do you want a servicing and coordinating role while gaining a unique insight into the political process in the country's largest municipality?

As a committee secretary in the Management Secretariat, you will have a varied and professionally challenging daily routine with a wide range of coordinating and supporting tasks for the political level in the municipality. Rarely are there two days that are the same in the Management Secretariat.

The Management Secretariat in Nuuk

In the Management Secretariat, you will find 15 skilled and dedicated colleagues who share a strong professional community.

In the Management Secretariat, we serve the elected representatives in the municipal council, the village councils, and the local committees. We are also responsible for supporting the municipality's top management and additionally work on a range of different development tasks, projects, and collaborations across the municipality as well as nationally and internationally.

We are a department that covers many different areas of work. Therefore, we help each other across the board; from sparring and larger decision proposals to serving freshly brewed coffee at management meetings.

You support the political level.

As a committee secretary in the Management Secretariat, you will be part of a small team that serves the political committees and the municipal council. You will have a coordinating role, responsible for gathering and ensuring formalities in agendas for political consideration, and you will be in ongoing contact with caseworkers, managers, and directors to ensure the best service to the political level in the municipality. You will also plan and coordinate political meetings, trips, and theme days for the politicians.

Depending on your qualifications and area of interest, you will be responsible for the above in one or more of the areas that fall under the municipal council.

In addition, you must:

  • Contribute to developing the framework for political service.
  • Teach other departments about political case processing.
  • Prepare case presentations for political consideration
  • Perform ad hoc tasks, both at a high professional level and practical tasks.

During the year, there will also be travel activity, both in Greenland and in other countries.

There are many entry points to the position, and you can be a recent graduate as well as experienced. The most important thing is that you have a relevant education and a desire to work in a responsible coordinating role, and that you are good at working systematically with tasks. If you speak Greenlandic, it is an advantage, but it is not a requirement.

Criminal record:

This position is subject to the law on the obligation to obtain a criminal record. According to the law, employment can only begin once the municipality has received a criminal record. We would therefore like to point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the criminal record from the police.

Salary and employment conditions:

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable agreement between the Government of Greenland, according to the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of appointment between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

The employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.
