A little about Maniitsoq:
-
Maniitsoq is located on Greenland's west coast, just south of the Arctic Circle between Nuuk to the south and Sisimiut to the north. The Maniitsoq area is very beautiful, surrounded by high and jagged mountains with glaciers that extend down to deep fjords. There are about 3,800 inhabitants in the district, with around 2,800 in the town and the rest in the district's three settlements. The settlements are visited several times a year, and transportation is done by boat. The town has most modern conveniences, grocery stores, a domestic airport, weekly connections with the coastal ship, and in the summer months, a fast boat route to Nuuk.
-
Summer leisure activities include hiking in the mountains and sailing among the humpback whales, which are characteristic of our district. In the winter months, the northern lights dance in the evening and night sky, and during the day, there is the opportunity for alpine and cross-country skiing. Additionally, Maniitsoq has an evening school with many exciting activities, and throughout the year, there are opportunities for various sports activities.
