Language Consultant

We are seeking a skilled language consultant for our management secretariat. You will play a central role in translation work and contribute to coordination. Tasks include quality assurance, proofreading, and translation. You will be part of a team that supports both political and administrative leadership as well as departments in the health and disability sector.

Language consultant for the Department of Health and Persons with Disabilities We are looking for a competent language consultant for our management secretariat. Do you have an eye for linguistic precision and a sense for detail? Then you might be the new colleague we are looking for to join our team in the management secretariat.

As a language consultant, you will play a central role in our work with translations and actively contribute to coordination. Your tasks will include quality assurance, proofreading, and translation, depending on needs and priorities.

You will be part of a team consisting of a language consultant and a lead translator/interpreter, along with other skilled colleagues across departments, working on both practical and strategic communication. The department handles tasks such as presentations, reports, press releases, and information campaigns.

  • Your tasks will include: Performing translation tasks
  • Proofreading and linguistic processing of translated texts
  • Quality assurance of translations
  • Coordination and follow-up on translation tasks

You will be part of a team that supports both the political and administrative leadership as well as professional departments within the health and disability sector. You will report directly to the head of administration for the management secretariat.

  • Professional qualifications: Education as a translator, interpreter, or other relevant linguistic or communicative background
  • Experience from similar positions or work environments is an advantage.
  • Confident user of MS Office and with good general system understanding; experience with TMS or Trados is an advantage.
  • Good language skills in Greenlandic and Danish – and preferably also in English, although the latter is not a requirement.
  • Personal qualifications: You work independently and are able to maintain an overview – even in pressured situations.
  • You have a sense of order and work in a structured and careful manner.
  • You have strong communication skills – both written and verbal.
  • You have a pronounced service-oriented approach in collaboration with colleagues and partners.
  • You are reliable and flexible regarding both working hours and types of tasks.
  • You are a team player who actively contributes to a good and collaborative work environment.
  • We prefer that you have a relevant higher education at the bachelor's level.
  • You have experience from a similar position or from a position within self-government.
  • You have an overview and can work under pressure.
  • You have a good knowledge of Greenlandic society and culture, and possess language skills in Greenlandic and Danish.
  • You have an overview and can maintain the overview in a complex process.

Salary and employment conditions

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

Housing

No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
