SEARCH THIS POSITION If you are ready for new challenges and open to new horizons, we have a position for you as an interpreter at PI/SPS Social Pedagogical Seminar in Ilulissat. PI/SPS is the only social pedagogical seminar in Greenland, located close to the world's largest and most beautiful ice fjord, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
As a bilingual workplace, we have an ongoing need for qualified language support.
The position involves ensuring clear and precise communication between Greenlandic and Danish – both written and spoken. The tasks include translating documents between Greenlandic and Danish as well as simultaneous interpreting during meetings, examination situations, and other activities. Additionally, there will be interpreting tasks related to course activities throughout Greenland, which means some travel activity is to be expected.
The following professionalism and area of competence are weighted in the application round.

You are trained as an interpreter between the languages Danish and Greenlandic or have equivalent competencies.

You have experience in interpreting in various contexts and have a professional approach to the role of the interpreter.

You are a skilled communicator both in writing and orally and can nuance the language according to what needs to be interpreted.

You already have knowledge of social pedagogical terminology or a strong interest in acquiring an understanding of the field's words and concepts.

You are passionate about both oral and written translation tasks, consecutive interpreting, and simultaneous interpreting.

You are also willing to work on your other language skills, such as English.

You have experience with time reporting, where working hours are recorded and allocated to relevant departments.

Salary and employment conditions
Salary and employment conditions, including the right to travel for joining and leaving, as well as relocation of personal belongings, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
Housing
An unfurnished staff accommodation can be assigned to the position according to the applicable rules at any given time. Housing cannot be assigned to individuals who already have a staff accommodation or another property owned by the municipality or the Government of Greenland. Rent and deposit are paid according to the applicable rules for the assigned accommodation. The staff accommodation is tied to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
Rent and housing standards may vary depending on the age of the property, ownership conditions, etc. There may be a waiting period for the allocation of permanent staff housing, which is why temporary accommodation may occur, including in smaller co-housing communities or hotel apartments, for which taxation applies. It is not possible to keep larger pets, such as dogs or cats, in staff or temporary housing.
