The Construction Manager will lead an active construction area with many projects throughout the municipality. The position requires strong financial and construction management as well as political thinking. You will be responsible for construction projects and the client role, ensuring business development through good service. Travel within the municipality is to be expected.
The construction manager will lead a construction area characterized by high activity and a wide range of construction cases throughout the municipality, where handling technical challenges and strong financial and construction management go hand in hand. The municipality spends nearly 90 million DKK annually on construction and 150 million DKK on larger construction projects. Travel activity in the municipality should be expected.
You will be the manager of 2 construction employees in Sisimiut and Maniitsoq, with the possibility of further hiring one. We expect a leader who, based on strong professionalism and high personal integrity, is able to exercise a quality-oriented and dialogue-based leadership style. At the same time, you will be a leader in a political organization, where your professional assessments combined with the ability for political thinking are in demand.
The area of Technology and Environment has a total of 14 administrative employees, who – in addition to the construction department – are distributed across the secretariat, planning department, and operations department.
Work and areas of responsibility:

Responsible for the professional administrative and managerial operation of all the municipality's construction cases.

Ensure the translation of political and administrative objectives into concrete efforts and initiatives in the construction area.

Take on the role of the client as well as supervision for construction projects, including new buildings, site development, and renovation.

You must help ensure that the business community's need for frameworks for business development is met by a service-oriented administration that prioritizes good service.

Construction-related advice, reporting, and case presentations to the political committees.

Overall budget responsibility for construction work in collaboration with the technical manager.
Qualifications:

You have a relevant academic degree as an engineer, construction designer, architect, or similar.

You have a good knowledge of managing construction projects, as the municipality spends nearly 90 million DKK annually on construction. And has construction projects worth 150 million DKK.

You preferably have leadership experience from the public sector and/or the private business sector.

You have a broad understanding of civil engineering and construction technology.

You preferably have experience in the role of client and supervisory authority.

You are multilingual.

You can collaborate with your employees, your manager, the political level, and external partners, and you understand how to build relationships that form the foundation for good cooperation.

You are structured, have analytical skills, and can present simply and precisely both orally and in writing.
Salary and employment conditions: Salary and employment relations are in accordance with the agreements and collective agreements in force at any given time between the Naalakkersuisut and your negotiating organization.
The project manager is administratively located in Sisimiut and organized under the technical manager.
Housing can be provided for which payment is made according to applicable rules.
