A central department head position in Municipality Qeqertalik

Would you like to lead the planning and land development in Municipality Qeqertalik?

We are looking for a head of department for Planning and Land to a central head of department position reporting to the director of the Department of Technical and Environmental Affairs - Inoqarfik. The position covers the municipality's 4 towns and 8 settlements. You will be responsible for physical planning, local plans, development projects, and administration of municipal lands. You must ensure that the development of towns and settlements occurs on a professional, legally compliant, and long-term basis.

Subject Manager Role

Reference to the head of administration and close collaboration with the political level.

Management responsibility

Management of employees and professional coordination of planning and land use tasks.

Professional field

Physical planning, local plans, land allocation, and development projects.

Geography

Responsibility across the municipality's four towns and eight villages.

You will be responsible for that.

·management and development of the planning and land area with responsibility for professional quality, prioritization, finances, and authority tasks

·physical planning, municipal and local plans as well as development projects in towns and villages

·land allocation, registration, and supervision of the use of municipal areas

·ensuring timely and legally compliant case processing as well as clear decisions and grounds for decisions

·political servicing through qualified case presentations, proposals, budget contributions, and systematic follow-up

We imagine that you

·has relevant professional and managerial experience in physical planning, land administration, surveying, construction, or a related field

·has experience with planning processes, authority work, and handling complex cases with many interests

can translate political goals and local needs into sustainable plans and clear decision-making bases

·has an understanding of land administration, legislation, hearings, and collaboration with citizens, businesses, and authorities

·works in a structured manner and has an eye for both the whole and the local reality across cities and villages

It is an advantage if you can communicate in Greenlandic and Danish, and preferably also in English.

In Greenland, nature is a part of everyday life. When the workday ends, leisure time can include dog sledding, sailing, snowmobiling, fishing, hiking, northern lights, and midnight sun.

The practical

The position reports to the head of administration for Technology and Environment - Inoqarfik.

The workplace is Aasiaat, but the responsibility covers the entire municipality.

Travel activity in the municipality is to be expected as needed.

Salary placement as department head 3 according to the management agreement between the Self-Government and the municipalities.

This is a position as a department head with both responsibility, vision, and experiences.

Criminal record:

This position is subject to the law requiring the collection of a criminal record. According to the law, employment can only begin once the municipality has received a criminal record. We would therefore like to point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the criminal record from the Police.

Housing:

Accommodation can be provided for the position, for which a deposit and rent, utilities, etc. will be paid according to the current rules for rent payment in the properties of the Greenland Self-Government and the municipality in Greenland. If a permanent staff residence cannot be made available immediately upon commencement, employees entitled to a vacant residence will be offered a temporary vacant residence, for which A-tax will be paid for benefits in kind in accordance with applicable legislation.

A staff residence must be vacated upon the termination of the employment relationship.
