Senior Officer

The Management Secretariat is looking for two senior officers to ensure the daily operations for a management group and a Minister. The tasks include coordination, quality assurance of texts, and development of IT systems. The position requires good communication skills in Greenlandic, Danish, and English, as well as knowledge of Greenlandic culture.

About the position

The Management Secretariat is one of 4 departments in the ministry, which handles departmental tasks within the areas of housing, client role, building authority, infrastructure, outer districts, and emergency preparedness. The ministry has approximately 45 employees. The Management Secretariat consists of 8 employees and functions as a staff unit.

The department's tasks include, among other things, coordinating and processing inquiries to the ministry and to the Naalakkersuisut, handling cases to and from the Naalakkersuisut and Inatsisartut, mail, hearings, translations, quality assurance, archiving, as well as project management and development tasks. In addition, it involves planning and conducting workshops, presentations, and peer training on internal instructions, guidelines, work procedures, and manuals, for example regarding case processing, procurement, service, other internal activities, etc. The department is also responsible for the operation, coordination, and further development of the ministry's central IT systems and digital workflows, including user support, system administration, and the implementation of new digital solutions.

We are looking for two full-time employees who, in collaboration with the department's staff and the department's management, will contribute to the performance of a central function in coordinating the department's cases as well as servicing the Naalakkersuisut. The position involves close cooperation with other employees in the department and across the departments in the ministry.

You will be an indispensable colleague in the team, and your tasks will be organized based on the skills, experiences, and interests you bring with you. It is therefore not expected that each employee will handle all the described tasks; the tasks will be distributed among four full-time employees to ensure an appropriate and balanced division of labor.

We expect that you have most of the following qualifications and competencies:

  • That you have a higher education.
  • That you are good at communicating both orally and in writing.
  • That you master Greenlandic and Danish at a high level in both written and spoken form, and English at least at a conversational level.
  • That you are good at coordinating and working independently.
  • That you show flexibility, even in pressured situations.
  • That you are quick to learn, but can also try on your own and learn.
  • That you are approachable and have good collaboration skills.
  • That you are familiar with Greenlandic culture and society.
  • A job that is close to the political decision-making process.

Salary and employment conditions

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation travel and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

Housing

No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to the assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon the termination of the employment relationship.
