Would you like to take on an important societal task in Greenland? The institution in Nuuk is looking for a psychologist for the health department. Responsibilities include therapy for detained individuals, preparation of reports, guidance, and supervision. The job offers an exciting daily routine with professional challenges and opportunities for development in Greenland's vibrant capital, Nuuk.
Would you like to help tackle an important societal task in Greenland? Then perhaps you are the one who should be a colleague with the other psychologists in the Greenland Prison Service.
The institution in Nuuk is seeking a psychologist for our health department.
The institution consists of a closed section with 40 places and an open section with 36 places. The closed section primarily houses a detention department and a secure department for those sentenced to secure custody. In the institution in Nuuk, a health section has been established with 4 psychologists and 1 nurse, who make up the treatment group. In addition, the psychologists are guided and supervised by a treatment-responsible psychiatrist from Denmark, who also serves as the psychiatric consultant for the Greenland Prison and Probation Service.
The primary task of psychologists is to provide therapy to those sentenced to preventive detention, prepare reports and statements about the detainees, contribute to interdisciplinary meetings, provide guidance and supervision to the staff, and engage in casework with other particularly vulnerable inmates. Other particularly vulnerable inmates will typically be detained young people between the ages of 18 and 25.
The inmates present a wide range of psychiatric, psychological, and social issues. There is thus an exciting developmental task in ensuring treatment options for the institution's inmates in close collaboration with the rest of the healthcare system, as well as in close internal cooperation with the institution's other staff groups. In addition, there is a significant task in creating an environment that motivates individual inmates to change. The work of the treatment group is carried out in close collaboration with the institution's other staff; social workers, employment consultants, uniformed personnel, as well as management and headquarters.
