The Department of IT and International Cooperation in Greenland's Fisheries and Hunting Control (GFJK) is seeking a proactive, structured, and analytical employee who wishes to help drive and further develop the tasks of fisheries control for Greenland's most important industry.
Work tasks

Development, validation, and follow-up on GFJK's data collection from vessels, buyers, controllers, observers, and international partners.

Development of reports for analytical use

Monitoring, control, and surveillance of fishing, including follow-up on quota usage and regulations for Greenlandic and foreign vessels.

Case processing - e.g. catch certification, violation cases, etc.

Planning and development of new working methods and tasks

Preparation of instructions

Preparation of proposals for changes in internal guidelines and Greenlandic legislation, incorporation of international obligations, and monitoring developments in other countries regarding fisheries regulation;

Participation in international meetings and negotiations.

A person with relevant higher education is being sought. This could be an education in fisheries technology, geography, IT, data science, statistics, political science, international management, economics, law among others.

In-depth knowledge of data processing tools, especially Excel, but also experience with databases, SQL, and GIS will be an advantage.

Good analytical and planning skills that can provide an informed basis for making decisions.

Is ready to take responsibility for the progress of tasks and to ensure the quality of task execution.

Has a flexible and accommodating attitude towards both work and colleagues.

Good oral and written communication skills in Danish and English.

Administrative experience from public or private companies, including experience with documentation systems, is an advantage.

Knowledge of practical fisheries management will be an advantage.

Knowledge of the Greenlandic language is an advantage.

ABOUT GFJK
Greenland's Fishing and Hunting Control (GFJK) is responsible for monitoring, surveillance, and control.
of Greenlandic fishing, hunting, and trapping. GFJK's main objective is to ensure that
Greenland's Self-Government fishing and hunting legislation is complied with; including the rules,
as issued under bilateral fisheries agreements or by virtue of Greenland's participation
in international organizations. The work takes place in close collaboration with
Department of Fisheries and Hunting.
GFJK consists of a headquarters in Nuuk and 3 regional offices in Sisimiut, Ilulissat, and Nuuk.
There are 17 employees at the headquarters, which are organized into four departments:
IT and International Cooperation, Control, Economics and HR. In the control department
includes a control body consisting of 11 fishery observers, as well as 3 regional offices with a total of
17 fishing and hunting inspectors.

Salary and employment conditions
Salary and employment conditions, including the right to travel for resignation and relocation of personal belongings,
in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of accession between
Greenland's Self-Government and the relevant negotiating organization.
Housing
No housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has
Staff housing through appointment in the Self-Government retains the right to designated staff housing.
The personnel residence is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon
termination of the employment relationship.
