Do you enjoy working with young people in education and are you passionate about helping more young people obtain a high school diploma? Then you might be the one we are looking for.

At Kujataani Ilinniarnertuunngorniarfik/GUX Qaqortoq, there is a full-time position available as a student coach as of March 1, 2026, or by agreement.

Kujataani Ilinniarnertuunngorniarfik has about 105 students in 5 different study programs, taught by about 18 teachers and about 16 administrative staff.

The students have very different academic and social conditions, but what they all have in common is the dream of becoming a graduate.

There are dormitories for students over 18 years old and a dormitory for students under 18 years old. Our students come from along the entire coast. We work at the school with second language pedagogy and culture-based teaching, placing students at the center of the high school's activities.

At Kujataani Ilinniarnertuunngorniarfik, we wish to work more on the students' well-being, both personally, socially, and academically. We would like to achieve the initiation of well-being conversations with a student coach. As a student coach, you will work closely with the management, career counselor, and an academic advisor. For students under 18, there will also be collaboration with dormitory educators. The group is part of a joint effort, focusing on the students' well-being and retention, especially concerning those students who need special support in completing their high school education.

• The tasks as a student coach consist of the following: Close daily collaboration with the school's management, dormitory staff, study counselors, career counselors, and other staff.
• Conduct well-being conversations with a fixed group of the school's students, and possibly additional conversations as needed.
• Monitor the students' absences and respond proactively to this in collaboration with the nearest colleagues in the field.
• Crisis preparedness.

• We expect: That you have a social education, such as a social worker, social educator, social assistant, or social helper.
• That you are committed to close collaboration with the other employees and management, where we focus on taking concrete action on the daily challenges.
• That you are flexible, reliable, and adaptable.
• That you are prepared for a busy everyday life during periods with many conversations with students.
• That you are prepared to help students build resilience, social skills, and the ability to see themselves in interaction with others.
• That you are prepared to work with students who may need pedagogical clarity, firm boundaries, and a safe adult to lean on.
• That you are committed to community, respect, shared responsibility, and professionalism, which are reflected in your dialogue with the students – and part of GUX's values.
• That you master both the Greenlandic and Danish languages in both speech and writing.

Salary and employment conditions

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation travel and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

Housing

An unfurnished staff housing can be allocated for the position according to the applicable rules at any given time. Housing cannot be allocated to individuals who already have staff housing or another property owned by the municipality or the Government of Greenland. Rent and deposit are paid according to the applicable rules for the allocated housing. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.

Rent and housing standards may vary depending on the age of the property, ownership conditions, etc. There may be a waiting period for the allocation of permanent staff housing, which is why temporary accommodation may occur, including in smaller housing communities or hotel apartments, for which taxation applies. It is not possible to keep larger pets such as dogs or cats in staff or temporary housing.
