Emergency Manager

We are looking for a responsible person for Risk, Preparedness, and Organizational Resilience, who will drive the development of a comprehensive and risk-based approach to risk, security, and preparedness in the organization.

The position will play a central role in establishing and further developing the organization's frameworks for risk management, business continuity, and crisis management at a strategic level.

About the position

The purpose of the position is to ensure that the organization has a robust, documented, and tested preparedness for critical functions. The role should contribute to creating close coordination between the headquarters, port terminals, and ships, and based on the existing risk picture and mapping of critical functions and processes, develop and implement a risk-based approach to preparedness.

Your primary tasks

Crisis management and emergency planning

  • Develop and maintain crisis management and emergency preparedness plans
  • Establish and structure crisis management organization, roles, and responsibilities
  • Define activation and escalation principles
  • Ensure coherence between preparedness, continuity planning, and communication.
  • Support the management of incidents and crises
  • Plan and conduct crisis and emergency exercises
  • Train management and key functions in crisis management
  • Evaluate exercises and events and ensure organizational learning.
  • Contribute to the development of organizational robustness and resilience
  • Ensure coherence between existing emergency and safety work
  • Support coordination between land organizations, terminals, and maritime units.
  • Contribute to a common understanding of risk and method
  • Contribute to cross-cutting exercises and experience sharing
  • Develop structure for reporting to management
  • Support decision-making basis within risk, security, and preparedness.
  • Contribute to documentation for authorities and insurance companies
  • Establish relevant meeting forums
  • Contribute to the development of security procedures for the headquarters.
  • Support the prevention of threats, violence, fire, and evacuation
  • Collaboration with HSEQ and occupational health and safety functions
  • Contribute to strengthening security and risk awareness among employees.

The position reports to the management and will have close collaboration with, among others, the HSEQ function, Safety Officer for the ships, Operations and Maintenance, IT, HR, and Communication.

The position may eventually develop into a key role in a comprehensive department for risk, security, and emergency preparedness.

Professional qualifications

We imagine that you:

  • Has experience with emergency preparedness, crisis management, risk, or security.
  • Preferably has experience from the maritime sector, transport, energy, or critical infrastructure.
  • Has knowledge of risk assessment and continuity planning
  • Has experience with training and exercises
  • Has knowledge of relevant standards such as ISO 22301, ISO 31000, or similar (an advantage)
