About you:

If you would like to be our new school principal, you will be responsible for many different management tasks. You will:

Have ambitions on behalf of the school and be eager to take on leadership.

Have strong collaboration and relationship skills

Find it natural to set goals and frameworks for the school's development.

Appreciate the diversity in leadership tasks at the school.

Preferably have management experience from the school world – if possible, preferably over several years.

Preferably bilingual (Greenlandic/Danish)

In collaboration with your two deputy school principals, you must ensure good contact with the communities and be responsible for the student residence. The tasks as a contact person are divided between the two deputy school principals.

You, along with your 2 vice principals and 3 department heads, will be responsible for school development with the pedagogical direction for school-home collaboration, administration at the office, operations, finance, personnel management, dialogue, and cooperation with the administration on strategic development, etc. Therefore, you must master a holistic and balanced view of the many elements of the leadership task, and you should appreciate the variation. You will elevate both the strategic and practice-oriented dialogues in the contexts you are part of, and it is always important to balance the relationship between anchoring and development. As a person, you are friendly, open, and positive, and you have a personality that makes it easy for you to communicate clearly and collaborate with many different people. You are good at listening and decoding students, staff, and parents, and you do this on a solid foundation of situational awareness and empathy for the benefit of all parties. You have an eye for creating followership, but you also have the courage to make difficult decisions. It is also expected that as a school principal in Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq, you contribute to the joint school development in the municipality.

Facts:

Tasiilami Alivarpi is a municipal primary school with 313 students. There are two tracks with a total of 20 regular classes and 6 special classes from grades 1-10 distributed across 3 levels. The teaching staff consists of 50 educators, including 2 vice principals and one principal.

Criminal and Child Certificate:

The position is covered by the law on the obligation to obtain criminal and child certificates. According to the law, employment can only begin once the municipality has received satisfactory criminal and child certificates. We would therefore like to point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the child certificate from the National Police as well as the criminal record from the Police.

The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal record is obtained by the individual from the Police.

Salary and employment conditions:

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Government of Greenland, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in effect at the time of appointment between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

The employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.

Housing:

A staff housing can be provided for the position, for which a deposit and rent, utilities, etc. are paid according to the applicable rules for rent payments in Greenland's Self-Government and the municipality's properties, etc. in Greenland. If permanent staff housing cannot be made available immediately upon commencement, employees entitled to temporary housing will be offered a temporary accommodation, for which rent, utilities, etc. are paid according to the above. The start date depends on when a staff housing is available. A relocation travel allowance and moving expenses for household goods are provided in accordance with applicable regulations.
