The Education Agency is seeking a visionary and proactive department head for the educational department. You will lead and develop the department, ensure strategic coherence, and contribute to the implementation of the agency's vision. The position requires solid management experience and knowledge of the Greenlandic education system.
SEARCH THIS POSITION As our long-time colleague and department head is taking on new tasks in the agency, the Ministry of Education is seeking a visionary and action-oriented department head for the pedagogical department, which is responsible for consultancy support, pedagogical development, production of teaching materials, as well as lending and dissemination.
The Danish Agency for Education and Quality has recently undergone an organizational renewal with a transition from two to three departments in connection with the takeover of operational responsibility for GUX, Attat, and NUIKI. As the new department head, you will have the opportunity to influence development and set direction for a number of new initiatives, strengthen collaboration across the organization, and ensure an educational development that supports a strong and cohesive education system.
Your core tasks:

To lead and develop the department both professionally and administratively.

To create strategic and operational coherence between the Danish Agency for Education's departments and external partners.

To actively contribute to the implementation of the Danish Agency for Education's vision and mission.

To lead the department's teams and to be a central part of the overall management of the agency.

Implementation and further development of legislation in the field of primary education

Personnel management, financial management, and overall operational responsibility

Project management and coordination across the agency's three departments

Ensuring a well-functioning collaboration both internally within the department and across the organization.

Management of a department organized into 4 smaller specialized teams.

Has in-depth knowledge of Greenlandic society, culture, and education system.

Has a relevant academic education – preferably supplemented with experience from the school or education sector.

Has solid management experience, preferably from public administration.

Is a clear and credible communicator with impact and strong collaboration skills.

About the Danish Agency for Education and Quality
The Education Agency is a politically governed organization that works both with servicing the Ministry and the political level, as well as development and production. The Education Agency is currently undergoing a reorganization of work areas and procedures – which you are expected to assist with. We are a diverse workplace with many different functions, which, in addition to more traditional agency functions, also has its own publishing house, printing press, and information and lending collections. The agency primarily deals with public schools, boarding schools, and independent schools, as well as the new GUX, Attat, and NUIKI. We are about 55 colleagues who, in an informal environment, take pride in maintaining a high professional standard.
Employment conditions
Positions salaried according to LR 38. The salary with fixed salary components in LR 38 amounts to DKK 59,010 per month and DKK 708,118 annually as of April 1, 2024.
Employment will take place under collective agreement terms according to the "Collective Agreement between the Government of Greenland and the Union of Teachers in Greenland, IMAK, for teachers in primary schools." If the applicant is already a civil servant under the civil service laws for the public sector in Greenland, employment may occur under civil servant terms.
Salary and employment conditions, including the right to travel for joining and leaving, as well as relocation of personal belongings, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
The working hours are initially 40 hours per week. For the position, there is no maximum service time set, and the provisions regarding compensation for overtime and lost days off do not apply.
Housing
No housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to the assigned housing is retained. The housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
