The Municipality of Sermersooq is seeking a dynamic catch and fisheries consultant for the Operations and Environment Department. The position requires knowledge of regulations and legislation in the catch and fisheries sector, as well as subsidy opportunities for fishermen. Responsibilities include managing living resources, liaising with fishermen, and advising on subsidies.

The Municipality of Sermersooq is seeking a dynamic hunting and fishing consultant for the Operations and Environment Department under the Administration for Construction and Environment. They are looking for an outgoing person with in-depth knowledge of the regulations applicable in the hunting and fishing sector. The position is to be filled as soon as possible or by mutual agreement.
We are looking for a catch and fisheries consultant who has knowledge of the rules and legislation within the catch and fisheries sector. You should be familiar with funding opportunities for fishermen and catchers, as well as financing for the purchase of new boats and equipment. The tasks will be varied in nature.
As a catch and fisheries consultant, you will have the following tasks, among others:
Management of living resources in the Municipality of Sermersooq management area
Contact with fishermen, catchers, recreational fishers, fishing organizations, and the Self-Government.
Process applications regarding hunting and fishing
Advice on grants for the purchase of a vessel
Registration of vessels to the Danish Maritime Authority
Response to various consultations in collaboration with colleagues
Development of the fishing and hunting industry
Has knowledge of the legislation within the industry
Interdisciplinary collaboration with the involved parties
Case presentations to the committee
Secretary for the Fisheries Council
Various ad hoc tasks
We expect you to have:
Solid administrative experience from similar tasks
Professionally engaged and proactive
Can work independently, responsibly, and service-oriented.
Good communicator
Has IT skills at user level
Stable, loyal, and good-humored
Systematic and structured
Good language and writing skills in Danish and Greenlandic, but not a requirement.

Criminal record:
This position is subject to the law requiring the collection of a criminal record. According to the law, employment can only begin once the municipality has received a criminal record. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the criminal record from the Police.
Salary and employment conditions:
Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Government of Greenland, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of appointment between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
The employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.
