Technical & Environmental Manager

Qeqqata Municipality is seeking a Head of Technical and Environmental Services to start on May 1, 2026, or by agreement.

The Head of Technology and Environment must lead an area characterized by development, where municipal planning, environmental planning, construction projects, technical challenges, and safe operations go hand in hand.

A leader is expected who, based on a high personal integrity and a natural authority, is able to exercise a quality-oriented and dialogue-based leadership style while maintaining focus on the overall political and administrative objectives.

The area has a total of 16 administrative employees, distributed across the secretariat, planning department, construction department, and operations department. Under the operations department, there are waste incineration plants, sales boards, bus transport, ski center, and municipal contractor site with asphalt facilities, as well as supervision of contract work for day + night waste collection and snow removal.

Areas of work and responsibility:

• Responsible for the professional administrative and managerial operations in the area of Technical and Environmental Affairs in Sisimiut, which administratively consists of operations, planning, construction, and engineering staff as well as the secretariat.
• Ensure the translation of political and administrative objectives into concrete actions and initiatives in the technical field.
• You must help ensure that the business community's need for frameworks for business development is met by a service-oriented administration that prioritizes good service.
• Contribute to the municipality's significant development projects such as municipal planning, environmental planning, sustainability projects, and business development.
• Advising the political committees on legislative issues.
• Overall budget responsibility for technical operations, supply, and construction work in collaboration with the operations manager, planning manager, and construction manager.

Qualifications:

• You have a relevant technical or managerial education.
• You have solid leadership experience from the public and/or private sector.
• You have experience with technical operations and construction.
• You are bilingual or trilingual – however, it is not a requirement.
• You can collaborate with your employees, your manager, the political level, and external partners, and you understand how to build relationships that form the foundation for good cooperation.
• You are structured, have analytical skills, and can present clearly and precisely both verbally and in writing.
• You are a motivating, open, positive, and informal person in a bicultural environment.

Salary and employment conditions: Salary and employment relations are in accordance with the agreements and collective agreements in force at any given time between the Naalakkersuisut and your negotiating organization.

The Technical and Environmental Manager is administratively located in Sisimiut and organized under the Municipal Director.

Housing can be provided for which payment is made according to applicable regulations.
