The Social Authority is seeking an engaged department head for the Advisory Department for Caseworkers. The position involves leadership and development of advisory services for municipal caseworkers, focusing on vulnerable children and youth. We are looking for an experienced leader with knowledge of social issues and Greenlandic conditions.
The Department for Advice to Caseworkers under the Social Authority works with guidance and advice for caseworkers in the municipalities and develops new initiatives in prevention and social matters.
About the position:
We are looking for a department head for the advisory department for caseworkers, who has experience in management and is passionate about complex social issues and prevention in the social sector.
The Department for Advisory Services to Caseworkers handles operational and development tasks related to the qualification of employees and leaders in the field of case management and interventions. The department's primary tasks are to advise and guide municipalities in the areas of vulnerable children and young people with the aim of strengthening the legal and social professional knowledge and practice in the field. The department's portfolio of tasks includes both operational and project-related tasks, which are partly implementations of legislation and partly involve politically adopted strategies and action plans.
We need a department head with personal and professional impact. This is an exciting position where you will be responsible for safe operations and development, while also keeping an eye on the overarching lines and political winds. As department head, you will have management responsibility for the unit's employees, and you will be a close professional sparring partner for the Director and for the other units. Therefore, you are resilient, possess significant work capacity, and are ready to roll up your sleeves, as well as seeing opportunities in helping to create and develop the framework for the position.
We expect that you:
- Is a trained social worker with additional qualifications and management experience.
- Has experience working in a politically governed organization
- Has knowledge of and interest in the social sector and social legislation
- Has management experience
- Has experience working with processes
- Has knowledge of Greenlandic societal conditions and culture, particularly in the social field.
- Focuses on employee development and well-being in the department.
- Abilities to work project-oriented and coordinating
- Is dynamic, committed, and development-oriented as a person.
- Has good prerequisites for communicating both in writing and orally, orally in both Greenlandic and Danish.
As the department head for the advisory department for caseworkers, you report to the director of the Social Agency.
Your tasks will include:
- Manage the overall leadership and coordination of the department for advising caseworkers.
- Personnel management
- Ensure employee development and well-being
- Distribution and prioritization of the department's tasks in close collaboration with the other management and employees
- Development and implementation of politically adopted initiatives
- Contribute to strategic development in the agency's organization and core tasks
- Ensure operation and development of the department as a workplace
- Ensure that the professional task solution is delivered on time and with high quality.
- Lead the development and qualification of the initiatives.
- Responsible for the budget within the area.
- Ensure collaboration across sectors and establish close cooperation with both internal and external stakeholders in the social field.
- There may at times be expected travel activity associated with the position.
About the Social Authority
The Social Authority falls under the Ministry of Children, Youth and Families and consists of the following 5 departments: Paarisa, the Day and Referral Department, the Department for Advice to Caseworkers, the Finance Department, and the Secretariat. The departments work closely together, and it is a workplace that offers plenty of professional challenges.
Criminal record and child certificate
The Social Authority reserves the right to obtain criminal and child certificates. We therefore point out that the employment can only take effect once the Social Authority has received a satisfactory child certificate from the National Police as well as a criminal record from the Police.
The child certificate is obtained by the Social Authority with written consent from the individual, while the criminal record must be obtained by the individual themselves through the Police.

Employment conditions
The position is currently salary-fixed corresponding to 38. The salary with fixed salary components and personal contributions to pension in LR 38 amounts to DKK 64,048 per month and DKK 768,576 annually as of April 1, 2026.
Employment will initially be on collective agreement terms; if the applicant is already a civil servant under the civil service laws for public Greenland, employment may occur on civil servant terms.
For the position, it applies that no maximum length of service has been established and that the provisions regarding compensation for overtime and the provisions regarding compensation for lost days off do not apply; the working hours are initially 40 hours per week.
Salary and employment conditions, including the right to travel for joining and leaving, as well as relocation of personal belongings, in accordance with the collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
Housing
No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
