Head of Operations, Environment, Fisheries and Business A central head of department position in Municipality Qeqertalik

Would you like to lead operations and the environment in Municipality Qeqertalik?

We are looking for a department head for Operations, Environment, Fisheries, and Business for a central department head position reporting to the head of the Technical and Environmental Administration - Inoqarfik. The position covers the municipality's 4 towns and 8 settlements. You will be responsible for stable operations, maintenance, environmental tasks, and services in towns and settlements, and you must ensure clear prioritization, high professional quality, and operations that function in everyday life.

Subject Manager Role

Reference to the head of administration and close collaboration with the political level.

Management responsibility

Management of employees and professional coordination across the municipality.

Operation, maintenance, waste, environment, renovation, and municipal services.

Geography

Responsibility across the municipality's four towns and eight villages.

You will be responsible for that.

·management and development of the operations and environmental area with responsibility for planning, prioritization, finances, and professional quality

·operation and maintenance of roads, paths, squares, harbor areas, building-adjacent outdoor areas, playgrounds, cemeteries, and technical facilities

·waste management, recycling centers, waste collection, snow removal, ice control, and general municipal services in towns and villages

·environmental supervision and environmental tasks, including local management of pollution, oversight of landfills, and support for nature and environmental projects

Collaboration with local fishermen and business actors regarding areas, etc.

Authority and development tasks related to business areas etc.

·political service through qualified case presentations, proposals, budget contributions, and systematic follow-up

We imagine that you

·has relevant professional and managerial experience in operations, engineering, environment, supply, contracting, or a related field

·has experience in planning and prioritizing operations and maintenance, preferably from a politically governed organization

can translate political goals and local needs into practical solutions and stable daily operations

·has financial understanding and can follow up on budgets, contracts, deliveries, and authority tasks

·works in a structured manner and has an eye for both the whole and the local reality across cities and villages

It is an advantage if you can communicate in Greenlandic and Danish, and preferably also in English.

The practical

The position reports to the head of the Department of Technical and Environmental Affairs - Inoqarfik.

The workplace is Aasiaat, but the responsibility covers the entire municipality.

Travel activity in the municipality is to be expected as needed.

Salary placement as department head 3 according to the management agreement between the Self-Government and the municipalities.

Criminal record:

This position is subject to the law on the obligation to obtain a criminal record. According to the law, employment can only begin once the municipality has received a criminal record. We would therefore like to point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the criminal record from the Police.

Housing:

A staff housing option will be available for the position, for which a deposit and rent, utilities, etc. will be paid according to the current regulations for rent payment in the properties of the Greenland Self-Government and the municipality in Greenland. If a permanent staff residence cannot be made available immediately upon commencement, employees entitled to a vacant residence will be offered a temporary vacant residence, for which A-tax will be paid for free benefits in accordance with applicable legislation.

A staff residence must be vacated upon termination of employment.
