The position is central and leading within the organization and offers a unique opportunity to work closely with the political leadership and actively contribute to the development of both the party and society.
As the secretary general, you will be the daily leader of the party's secretariat and the natural link between the organization, elected officials, and local branches. You will report to the executive committee of Inuit Ataqatigiit and play an important role in ensuring coherence, development, and progress in the party's work.
About Inuit Ataqatigiit
Inuit Ataqatigiit was founded in 1976 and is today Greenland's largest political party with a strong presence in both the Naalakkersuisut, Inatsisartut, municipalities, and village councils.
The party works for a democratic, equitable, and sustainable society with a focus on human rights, community, and Greenlandic development.
The secretariat is based in Nuuk and consists of dedicated employees with various professional competencies.
Your primary work tasks
As the head of the secretariat, you will be responsible for both management, coordination, and strategic development of the secretariat's work.
You will be responsible for, among other things:
● Daily management of the secretariat and the employees (consultant and student assistants)
● Coordination of work tasks and ensuring high quality in task execution
● Service and advice to the party's political leadership and elected representatives
● Planning and execution of national meetings, general assemblies, and political meetings
● Preparation of operational reports and follow-up on budgets
Ensuring good communication between the party and the local departments
● Overall responsibility for the party's communication, social media, website, and newsletters
● Follow-up on decisions made in the business committee
● Monitoring of the political development and contributing to strategic initiatives
You will also be responsible for ensuring that the party's statutes and organizational processes are followed.
We are looking for you who
● Has relevant higher education in fields such as social sciences, political science, administration, law, or economics.
● Has political understanding and insight into Greenlandic societal conditions
● Has experience with management, project management, or secretarial work
● Works in a structured and independent manner
● Is strategically thinking and action-oriented
● Has good collaboration skills and can motivate others
● Communicates clearly and professionally at different levels
● Speaks and writes Greenlandic, and preferably also Danish and English
It is an advantage if you have experience with:
● Political work or politically led organizations
● Communication, branding, or election campaigns
● Organizational development and stakeholder management
