Department Head for the Management Secretariat in the Ministry of Children, Youth, Justice, and Equality The Management Secretariat is an attractive and professional workplace with a high level of ambition. The Management Secretariat is one of three departments in the Ministry of Children, Youth, Justice, and Equality, which handles departmental tasks within the areas of children, youth, justice, and equality, as well as the underlying unit, the Social Agency. Daily life in the Management Secretariat is varied and professionally challenging, where things sometimes move quickly and tasks must be completed under time pressure. It is rare for two days to be the same.

The department consists of 6 employees and is a staff function in the ministry. The tasks are diverse and require collaboration, coordination, and processing of inquiries to the ministry and to the Naalakkersuisut, including matters to and from the Naalakkersuisut and Inatsisartut, mail, hearings, quality assurance, communication, archiving, HR, Nordic cooperation, translations, and project management.

The department is also responsible for planning citizen meetings and other external meetings, as well as for development tasks, including political workshops and seminars for community stakeholders in the area of children and youth.

  • Your areas of responsibility Lead and develop the Management Secretariat, which consists of 6 employees.
  • Ensure quality and effectiveness in the Management Secretariat's coordination during Inatsisartut sessions as well as the submission of the department's cases to Naalakkersuisut and Inatsisartut.
  • Have the overall responsibility for coordinating and following up on cases for the Minister, the Government, and the Parliament.
  • Take on a central role in coordinating the department's matters and servicing the Naalakkersuisut, in close collaboration with the department's other units.
  • Ensure effective communication, collaboration, and stakeholder involvement across the organization and with external actors.
  • Have overall responsibility for translations in the department, including ensuring quality and timely delivery of translated documents.

The tasks are diverse and require the ability to collaborate across language and subject boundaries, as well as to take independent responsibility for one's own areas of work and projects. The position demands the ability to quickly familiarize oneself with new material, be flexible, and thrive in an organization where small and large tasks intersect in a sometimes busy everyday life.

Therefore, it is important that you are responsible, adaptable, and collaborative. You should be interested in working in a politically governed organization where the pace is often very high and deadlines are short. You must be good at communicating, both in writing and verbally, and have the ability to see through complex relationships.

The tasks in the department include, among other things, servicing the political level in the form of memos, reports, etc., as well as various project and development tasks and the development of strategies and action plans in the area of children and youth.

  • Your profile Education: you have a relevant higher education and several years of administrative experience, preferably from the public or private sector.
  • Experience with management: You have solid management experience and the ability to create a good and productive work environment while maintaining an overview in a busy and dynamic everyday life.
  • Professional insight: You have a good understanding of the area of responsibility in a Greenlandic context and have experience working with complex, cross-cutting tasks.
  • Communication: You have strong written and verbal communication skills and can articulate complex topics clearly and precisely to both political decision-makers and professional collaborators.
  • Collaboration and impact: You are outgoing, collaborative, and can build relationships across organizations and levels.
  • Cultural understanding: knowledge of Greenlandic conditions and language skills in Greenlandic, Danish, and English will be an advantage.

Employment terms

The position is currently salary-fixed corresponding to 38. The salary with fixed salary components and personal contribution to pension in LR 38 amounts to DKK 64,048 monthly and DKK 768,576 annually as of April 1, 2026.

Employment will initially be on collective agreement terms; if the applicant is already a civil servant under the civil service laws for the public Greenland, employment may be on civil servant terms.

For the position, there is no maximum length of service established, and the provisions regarding compensation for overtime and the provisions regarding compensation for lost days off do not apply; the working hours are initially 40 hours per week.

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to travel for joining and leaving, as well as relocation of personal belongings, in accordance with the collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

Housing

No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to the assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
