FOR THIS POSITION At our school in Ittoqqortoormiit, Ejnar Mikkelsenila Aluarpia, we are looking for a skilled and dedicated qualified teacher.

We are a school with about 72 students, 13 teachers, and a principal. We offer education from 1st to 10th grade.

Ittoqqortoormiit, with just over 300 inhabitants, is located by the world's largest fjord, far north of the Arctic Circle. It is one of the most remote towns in the world. Here you can get a position where, in addition to contributing to the development of the school, you will have ample opportunity to become a central player in the students' education and academic development.

The content of the positions:

We are looking for a qualified teacher. Since the teaching group is limited, one must expect to teach subjects other than their main subjects. In addition, one must be able to take on the role of class teacher as well as other functions by agreement. We are looking for someone who can teach at all levels.

The tasks are solved in close collaboration with the school's other teachers, management, and other staff, as well as the school's parents.

Criminal and Child Certificate:

The position is covered by the law on the obligation to obtain a criminal record and child certificate. According to the law, employment can only begin once the municipality has received a satisfactory criminal record and child certificate. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the child certificate from the National Police as well as the criminal record from the Police.

The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal record is obtained by the individual from the Police.

Salary and employment conditions:

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Government of Greenland, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of appointment between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

The employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.

Employment:

If you are currently employed as a civil servant, you have the opportunity to continue as a civil servant according to the applicable rules and agreements with us. For collective agreement employment, the probation period is 1 year. Both for collective agreement employment and civil servant employment, earned salary seniority is counted after passing the teacher examination. Employment is as a civil servant or according to the "Collective Agreement between the Naalakkersuisut and IMAK for teachers in primary schools, etc."

Fixed-term employment:

You will be employed on special fixed-term conditions according to the agreement of February 16, 2007, regarding employment on special fixed-term conditions. Additionally, a non-pensionable severance amount of DKK 18,000.00 is granted as an annual base amount per April 1, 1991, for every 12 months of employment. The amount is adjusted as special supplements and amounts to DKK 20,253.67 annually as of April 1, 2017. The severance amount is paid monthly along with the salary and is deposited into a blocked account in a Greenlandic financial institution.

Induction trip:

Upon employment, a free relocation trip is provided for the employee and their family, and no earlier than after 3 years, a corresponding departure trip, as well as relocation compensation according to applicable regulations.

For both types of employment, the employee is covered by a separate agreement on group life insurance.

Housing:

A staff housing option will be available for the position, for which a deposit and rent, utilities, etc. will be paid according to the applicable rules for rent payment in the Greenland Self-Government and the municipality's properties in Greenland. If permanent staff housing cannot be made available immediately upon commencement, employees entitled to temporary housing will be offered a temporary rental unit, for which rent, utilities, etc. will be paid in accordance with the above. The start date is dependent on when a staff accommodation is available. A relocation travel allowance and moving expenses for household goods are provided in accordance with applicable regulations.
