Department Head for Finance and Financial Management in the Social Sector

The Social Administration's Department for Social Economics in Municipality Kujalleq is looking for a skilled department head who can help ensure the finances, financial management, and innovation in the administration. The position is located in the town of Qaqortoq with employment starting on December 1, 2026 or by further agreement.

You will be in a key position where you, together with the other management in the administration, will ensure coherence from budget planning to financial closing.

We are looking for a department head who has their finger on the pulse and possesses good professional insight as well as being development-oriented.

·Financial Management: Contributes to a more efficient overview of existing expenses in the social sector in the municipality and ensures that sufficient appropriations are present.

Contributes to improved budget planning and statistics in the social sector in the municipality.

·Advisor and Consultant to employees in the finance department regarding contributions to the coordination of collections, invoice instructions, and control of payments in the social sector in the municipality.

·Supervision and Quality Assurance: Has overall responsibility for ensuring that the finance department contributes to correcting mispostings, delays in payments, imbalances in status accounts/interim accounts, and other similar irregularities in the social sector.

·Consultation: Informs and advises the department heads and the social manager if there is a risk that the appropriations will exceed the approved budget framework. Contributes to a more optimal resource allocation in the social sector as well as financial documentation in Municipality Kujalleq.

·Development: Development of business processes and contributes to better financial planning in the social sector in the municipality.

We expect the following qualifications:

·Good leadership skills with a focus on employee development

·Structure and development of business processes

·Good collaboration skills and communicative competence

·Independent with decision-making authority

·Solid experience in financial management in a municipality

·Competencies and experience in IT and financial management tools

·Educated economist TNI/EVU/NI1 or AC officer or similar.

No staff housing can be provided. A free relocation travel and moving expenses are provided – and after at least 3 years of employment – resignation and moving expenses according to applicable rules.
