The Municipality of Sermersooq is looking for a skilled, dedicated, and versatile music teacher for Sermersooq Music School in Nuuk with a start date to be determined.
Who are we
Sermersooq Music School is part of Leisure and Culture, which is a part of the Administration for Children and Schools. We offer children and young people in the municipality free music education in instruments, singing, choirs, and ensemble playing – both individually and in groups.
At the Music School, we emphasize creating an inspiring and inclusive music environment where children and young people have the opportunity to develop their musicality, creativity, and joy in playing music. As an employee, you will be part of a smaller music professional environment where there is room for different competencies, ideas, and initiatives.
We collaborate with local actors and institutions, including public schools and daycare centers. Throughout the year, we carry out various projects, workshops, and concerts, where there is an opportunity to work together with local actors as well as external guest musicians and educators.
Sermersooq Music School consists of permanent music teachers and hourly teachers who together create the framework for teaching and the school's other activities.
Job Content
We are looking for an engaged, professionally skilled, and versatile music teacher who wants to teach children and young people and help develop Sermersooq Music School. You have good music-related competencies and an interest in music pedagogy and in creating good musical experiences with the students.
As a music teacher, you will have the opportunity to influence both your own teaching and the professional development of the Music School. We emphasize that you can work independently, but at the same time, you are eager to actively participate in collaboration with your colleagues and our local partners.
Your main tasks will include:
·Music teaching for children and young people, both individually and in groups
·Independent planning and organization of teaching
·Contributing to the development of the Music School's subjects and teaching offers
·Planning and conducting student concerts, projects, and workshops
·Participation in projects and activities with local actors as well as external guest musicians and educators
·Collaboration with, among others, public schools, daycare centers, leisure clubs, and other local actors
·Practical and administrative tasks related to teaching and the Music School's activities
·Other relevant tasks related to the work of the Music School
The tasks are solved in close collaboration with the Music School's leader, colleagues, and relevant local partners.
We expect that you
·Have a music-related or other relevant education
·Have a desire to teach and work music pedagogically with children and young people at different age levels and abilities
·Can plan and conduct teaching both individually and in groups
·Have a clear and engaging approach to teaching and can create a safe and inspiring learning environment
·Are flexible and can adapt to different students, teaching methods, and tasks
·Have a desire to actively contribute to the Music School's professional development, projects, concerts, and other activities
·Work independently and responsibly while also thriving in collaboration with colleagues and other partners
It is an advantage if you
·Have a teaching degree, music pedagogical education, or experience teaching children and young people
·Can play and teach one or more instruments
·Have experience with ensemble playing, choirs, concerts, workshops, or other musical projects
We also emphasize that you are stable, approachable, and good at building relationships with children and young people, and that you have a desire to be an active part of the Music School and the local cultural life.

Criminal and Child Certificate:
This position is subject to the law requiring the collection of criminal and child certificates. According to the law, employment can only begin once the municipality has received satisfactory criminal and child certificates. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the child certificate from the National Police and the criminal certificate from the Police.
The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal certificate is obtained by the individual from the Police.
Salary and Employment Conditions:
Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Government of Greenland, according to the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
Employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.
Housing:
No staff housing can be provided for the position.
