Nanortalik School is looking for two skilled teachers to start on December 1, 2026, or as soon as possible under special fixed-term conditions

About position 1:

We are looking for a teacher for the school's senior level, who can primarily teach English and group-based instruction. Other subjects such as Danish and practical-musical subjects will also be possible if desired.

You will collaborate with experienced teachers in a well-functioning level with many different activities. The level plans an annual study trip to Roskilde and Qaqortoq, where you will also have a significant influence. Additionally, the level focuses on education and vocational readiness, where all classes in the level have a theme week about the future.

About position 2:

We are also looking for a teacher for the school's middle level, who can teach primarily English and Danish as well as serve as the homeroom teacher for the school's 6th grade. There will be opportunities to influence the subject combination based on abilities and desires.

In the middle level, you will collaborate with experienced teachers who have worked hard in recent years to raise the students' academic level. The level has a strong focus on interdisciplinary collaboration, where teachers work across classes to support each other's teaching.

Nanortallip Atuarfia

Nanortallip Atuarfia has 178 students and currently has 23 teachers.

Nanortallip Atuarfia has good tools, good collaboration, and is surrounded by fascinating nature with great opportunities for excursions, where the school's outdoor school is used frequently. Nanortallip Atuarfia has an annual project week with its own learning goals in stock (pilineq), where the whole school participates.

You will be involved in teaching using iPads. We use Clevertouch smart screens for teaching. This school year, we have supplemented all classes with IT boxes for use in teaching.

Each level has its own focus areas that are worked on intensively throughout the school year.

We regularly meet in subject teams, levels, and class teams to plan, coordinate, and support each other.

Child certificate:

This position is subject to the law requiring the collection of a child certificate. According to the law, employment can only begin once the municipality has obtained a child certificate.

The child certificate will be part of the municipality's assessment of who should be hired for the position.

Salary and employment conditions

Employment is in accordance with the agreement between Naalakkersuisut and the Teachers' Union in Greenland, IMAK, the Folkeskole teachers in Greenland of August 27, 2014, and the main agreement from Naalakkersuisut and IMAK of October 28, 1998.

Staff housing

Housing can be provided, for which rent and deposit are paid according to applicable rules.

Employment on favorable terms

Employment is based on the agreement of May 25, 2021, between Naalakkersuisut and IMAK. For applicants who are already civil servants in Greenland, this form of employment can be continued.

To attract qualified applicants, employment is offered under the Agreement on Employment under special fixed-term conditions. This means in practice that the employee and their family are granted a vacation trip after every 12 months of employment according to applicable rules. In addition, a severance amount of 18,000 DKK per year of employment at 1991 level is deposited into a closed account. The severance amount is paid out after employment ends.

Commencement travel

A free commencement travel is provided for the newly hired employee and their family, and after at least 3 years of employment, a severance travel and moving of belongings is provided according to applicable rules.
