The Department of Environment, Nature, Energy, and Research is seeking an AC officer with experience in language and communication. The tasks include proofreading, advising, press work, and planning workshops. The position is full-time with a start date of November 1, 2026.
AC Officer for the Management Secretariat in the Department of Environment, Nature, Energy and Research
Start date: Start from November 1, 2026, or as soon as possible by agreement.
We are looking for an experienced and independent AC officer with skills in language and communication.
Your primary tasks will be (across the department's areas of responsibility) to:
- Ensure proofreading and interpretation at a high level.
- Advise the head of department on communication.
- Maintain and develop press collaboration.
- Prepare press releases, talking points, Q&As, opinion pieces, and background notes.
- Plan and conduct workshops and town hall meetings.
- Develop campaign materials and citizen-oriented communication.
Your flexibility will be needed regarding overtime and changing working hours.
About you
We expect that you have a relevant higher education at least at the bachelor's level, e.g., language, literature, and media, and can document results and experiences that meet the requirements of the position.
It is an advantage if you have several years of experience from a public authority, a ministry, an agency, or a larger organization with political complexity.
Additionally, we expect that you:
- have documented experience in language and communication consulting,
- know the logics of the media and work confidently in the press landscape,
- can switch between consulting and production,
- have experience with cross-cutting coordination in complex organizations,
- work structured and maintain an overview under pressure,
- write clearly and precisely in Greenlandic, take ownership of deliverables, and ensure that decisions are translated into finished and usable products,
- are collaborative, professional, and contribute constructively – even when the pace is high.
It is also an advantage if you have experience with case management systems in the public sector (e.g., F2) as well as knowledge of crisis management systems and inter-agency collaboration.
Familiarity with the Greenlandic language, culture, and the Greenlandic society.

In the department, we are about 45 employees, of which the Management Secretariat consists of 3 employees.

Salary and Employment Conditions
Salary - and employment conditions in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of appointment between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
Housing
No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
