The Municipality of Sermersooq is seeking a personnel lawyer for the HR department, who will strengthen the legal quality in personnel cases and advise managers on employment law. The position involves handling complex personnel cases and ensuring correct legal practice.

Personnel Lawyer for HR

Do you want to help strengthen the legal quality in personnel cases and support leaders in Greenland's largest municipality? Do you have strong legal competencies, an interest in employment law, and a desire to work closely with practice? Then you might be our new personnel lawyer in the HR department.


About the position:

The HR department in Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq is a central function for the entire municipality. We advise and guide leaders across the municipality's administrations and support them in personnel and employment law matters.


As a personnel lawyer, you will become an important legal sparring partner for leaders and HR partners. You will play a central role in handling personnel cases and in ensuring a correct and consistent legal practice in the personnel law area.


You will work with employment law, administrative law, collective agreements, civil servant legislation, and other areas of legislation.


Your primary tasks:

You will among other things:

·Advise and guide leaders and HR partners on employment law and personnel law matters

·Handle complex personnel cases and provide legal sparring in connection with these

·Assist leaders in preparing party hearings, decisions, written warnings, dismissals, and expulsions

·Draft legal notes, employment law letters, and responses to external authorities

·Advise on and interpret collective agreements, civil servant legislation, as well as relevant laws, regulations, and circulars

·Ensure correct administrative law practice in personnel cases

·Develop legal guidelines, instructions, and templates in the personnel law area

·Participate in difficult conversations and meetings as legal support for leaders and HR

·Quality assure personnel processes and contribute to the development of HR's legal practice

·Hold presentations and convey knowledge about employment law and collective agreements


Additionally, there will be an opportunity to tailor tasks according to your competencies, interests, and development wishes in dialogue with management.


We are looking for you who:

·Have a legal master's degree, e.g., cand.jur. or cand.merc.jur. A BA.jur. with relevant experience and interest in labor and employment law may also be considered

·Have solid experience and knowledge in employment and personnel law

·Preferably have experience from HR, public administration, or conflict resolution

·Have good legal and analytical skills and can translate law into practical solutions

·Are good at communicating complex legal material in a clear and understandable language

·Work structured, independently, and follow through on your tasks

·Are good at collaborating, sparring, and sharing your knowledge with colleagues

·Have initiative and thrive on taking responsibility and handling challenging issues

·Have good oral and written communication skills

·Are diplomatic, service-minded, and approachable


It is an advantage if you have good numerical understanding and an understanding of legal and economic risks.


It is also positively weighted if you have knowledge of Greenlandic society, the Greenlandic language, and Greenlandic social conditions.

Who are we?:

The HR team consists of 4 office assistants, 6 HR consultants, 2 HR development partners, 1 AU-HR trainee, a department head, and an HR and payroll manager.


The HR department is jointly responsible for ensuring that the municipality hires the right employees and subsequently retains skilled employees. This is done through close contact and collaboration with leaders and departments across the municipality.


We have an informal tone, emphasize good collegiality, and having fun together. With us, workdays are rarely the same.


Criminal record:

This position is subject to the law on the obligation to obtain a criminal record. According to the law, employment can only begin once the municipality has received a criminal record. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the criminal record from the Police.


Salary and employment conditions:

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Government of Greenland, according to the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.


Employment will be subject to a 3-month probationary period.


Housing:

No staff housing can be assigned for the position.
