The Municipality of Sermersooq is seeking an engaged social worker/caseworker for the Children and Family Department in Tasiilaq. The position involves authority case processing of children and youth cases as well as the development of social work. Emphasis is placed on experience and relevant education.

Social Worker/Caseworker for the Children and Family Department in Tasiilaq

The Municipality of Sermersooq is looking for a skilled and dedicated social worker/caseworker with relevant social professional education for the Children and Family Department in MI Tasiilaq.


The Children and Family Department is a department under MI Tasiilaq under the Administration for Children and Families in the Municipality of Sermersooq. MI Tasiilaq has the following departments: The Children and Family Department works with children and youth cases in accordance with applicable legislation in the area. The area of intervention includes family counselors, youth advisors, foster family consultants, as well as crisis centers, youth apartments, and treatment apartments.


The Children and Family Department currently consists of 10 employees, including 1 department head and 9 caseworkers.

The position is a full-time position that will soon be vacated by an employee who has chosen other challenges. The caseworker reports to the department head in the authority area regarding employment conditions and professional management.


Job Content:

We are looking for a – preferably experienced – social worker/caseworker to participate in the authority case processing of children and youth cases and handle a number of tasks including:

·Development of social professional work in the administration for Children and Family

·Concrete case processing of child cases

·Preparation of social professional investigations, case presentations, grants, and case processing of applications

·Preparation and revision of action plans and ongoing follow-up on ongoing interventions

·Documentation of all relevant information

·Conversations with citizens, children, and partners

·Coordination work in connection with visits, visitation agreements, network meetings, family consultations, placements, changes in placements, reunifications, etc.

·Assessment of support measures

·Ongoing follow-up and supervision of child cases, as well as annual personal supervision of placed children and youth

·Participate in sparring meetings to ensure a consistent professional approach in daily work throughout the administration.

·Contribute to systematic knowledge gathering of case processing in the administration

·Help clarify and develop workflows in the department

·Participation in interdisciplinary collaboration and sparring in Tasiilaq and the settlements

·Ad hoc participation in the social duty scheme


The tasks are solved in close collaboration with the administration's other employees and relevant interdisciplinary partners.


Expectations for Applicants:

·Relevant social professional education (social worker, advisor in social work, advisory assistant, or master's in social work)

·Experience with – and knowledge of applicable social legislation

·Experience with the administration of social legislation in practice

·Experience working in a politically governed organization

·Experience working in the child area

·Experience working interdisciplinary with external partners

∙Being bilingual in Greenlandic and Danish is an advantage, but not a requirement

Criminal and Child Certificate:

The position is subject to the law on the obligation to obtain criminal and child certificates. According to the law, employment can only begin when the municipality has received satisfactory criminal and child certificates. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the child certificate from the National Police and the criminal certificate from the Police.

The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal certificate is obtained by the individual from the Police.


Salary and Employment Conditions:

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable agreement between the Government of Greenland, according to the agreement/contract in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.


The employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.


Housing:

No staff housing can be provided for the position.
