The Department of Business and Minerals is seeking a head of office for the Business and Trade Department in Nuuk. The position involves responsibility for management, professional development, and political collaboration. You will work with business legislation, business promotion, and project coordination.
The Department of Business and Minerals is seeking a professionally strong and committed office manager for the Business and Trade Department.
As an office manager, you will play a central role in the work of developing the framework conditions for businesses in Greenland.
You will be responsible for the daily professional and personnel management of one of the department's two offices and will also have independent responsibility for a number of specific case areas.
The position thus offers the opportunity to combine management, professional immersion, and work closely with the political decision-making processes.
About the Business and Trade Department
The Business and Trade Department handles a wide range of tasks within business and trade policy. The department works, among other things, with business legislation, analysis of the framework conditions for the business community, business promotion, tourism, ice and water, trade, as well as coordination of industrial and large-scale projects.
The department works closely with political decision-makers, and ministerial servicing as well as follow-up on the political objectives of the Naalakkersuisut and the decisions of the Inatsisartut is therefore a significant part of the work.
The department consists of two offices, each with its own office manager and a total of about 10 case handlers. As an office manager, you report to the department head and, together with the other office manager, participate in the daily management and coordination of the department's tasks.
The Position
As an office manager, you have the daily personnel and professional management responsibility for the employees in the office. You must create direction and overview in task execution, prioritize resources, and ensure high professional quality and timely delivery.
At the same time, the office manager position is a working leadership position. You will have responsibility for specific case areas and are expected to actively participate in the office's professional task resolution. Depending on the office's task portfolio, this may include preparing political proposals and decision bases, ministerial servicing, legislative and strategic work, specific cases, as well as collaboration and negotiation with external actors.
You will be responsible for:
- leading, prioritizing, and coordinating the office's daily work and having personnel responsibility for the office's employees
- ensuring high professional quality and progress in the office's cases and deliveries
- advising and sparring with employees and supporting their professional and personal development
- having independent responsibility for selected professional and case areas
- preparing and quality assuring proposals, notes, decision bases, and ministerial servicing
- translating political objectives and decisions into concrete administration and follow-up
- contributing to the department's strategic development and prioritization in close collaboration with the department head and the other office manager
- collaborating with other departments, municipalities, the business community, and other relevant national and international actors.
The Department's Areas of Work
The Business and Trade Department is organized into the office for business development and entrepreneurship and the office for International cooperation and Law.
The Office for Business Development and Entrepreneurship works, among other things, with tourism, business promotion, export permits, service agreements, ice and water, and genetic resources.
The Office for International Cooperation and Law works, among other things, with trade policy and trade agreements, international marketing and business promotion efforts, Nordic and EU-oriented cooperation, as well as investment screening.
About You
We envision that you have a relevant higher education and experience from a politically governed organization, public administration, the business community, or another relevant organization.
It is important that you both have the desire to lead and to work on specific professional cases yourself. You should be able to move between personnel management, prioritizing the office's overall tasks, and independently handling complex cases.
We particularly emphasize that you:
- have good leadership skills and preferably experience with personnel management
- have strong analytical and professional competencies
- can create structure, prioritize, and ensure progress in a daily routine with many different tasks
- have an understanding of working in a politically governed organization
- can translate political objectives into concrete task resolution
- communicate clearly and precisely both in writing and orally
- are a good sparring partner for both employees, management, and external collaborators
- take responsibility and can make decisions while having an inclusive leadership style.
Leadership experience is an advantage, but not necessarily a requirement. What matters is that you have the potential and motivation to take on personnel management and can create professional direction for the office.
We Offer

Salary and Employment Conditions
The position is currently salary set corresponding to 36. The salary with fixed salary components and your contribution to pension in LR 36 amounts to DKK 57,531 monthly and DKK 690,372 annually as of April 1, 2026.
Salary and employment conditions, including the right to travel for recruitment and relocation, are in accordance with the agreements / collective agreements applicable at the time of appointment between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organizations.
Housing
No staff housing is provided for the positions. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Government, the right to assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
