About you:If you would like to be our new Principal, you will take on many different leadership tasks. You should:

·Have ambitions on behalf of the school and be willing to take on leadership

·Have strong collaboration and relationship skills

·Find it natural to set goals and frameworks for the school's development

·Appreciate the diversity in leadership tasks at the school

·Preferably have leadership experience from the school world – if possible, preferably for several years

·Being bilingual in Greenlandic and Danish is an advantage, but not a requirement

You should also have a coordinating and supportive role in relation to the village schools and be responsible for the student home and ensure close coordination between the schools in the towns and villages. This includes, among other things, follow-up on professional development, well-being, school absenteeism, and implementation of municipal initiatives as well as ongoing sparring and support for school leadership in the villages.

 
You will, along with your 2 vice principals and 4 department heads, be responsible for school development with the pedagogical direction for school-home collaboration, administration at the office, operations, finance, personnel management, dialogue, and collaboration with the administration on strategic development, etc. Therefore, you must master a holistic and balanced view of the many elements of the leadership task, and you should appreciate variation.

You will lift both the strategic and the practice-oriented dialogues in the contexts you are involved in, and it is always important to balance the relationship between anchoring and development.
As a person, you are friendly, open, and positive and have a personality that makes it easy for you to communicate clearly and collaborate with many different people. You are good at listening and decoding students, staff, and parents, and you do it on a solid foundation of situational awareness and empathy for the benefit of all parties. You have an eye for creating followership, but you also have the courage to make the difficult decisions.

It is also expected that you, as a principal in Municipality Sermersooq, contribute to the common school development in the municipality.

Facts:

Tasiilami Alivarpi is a municipal primary school with 336 students. There are two tracks with a total of 20 regular classes and 6 special classes from 1st to 10th grade distributed over 3 levels. The teaching staff consists of 50 educators including 2 vice principals and one principal.

Criminal and Child Certificate:

The position is covered by the law on the obligation to obtain a criminal and child certificate. According to the law, employment can only begin when the municipality has received a satisfactory criminal and child certificate. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon when the municipality has received a child certificate from the National Police as well as a criminal certificate from the Police.

The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal certificate is obtained by the individual from the Police.

Salary and employment conditions:

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Government of Greenland, according to the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

The employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.

Housing:

There will be the possibility of assigning staff housing for the position, for which a deposit and rent, utilities, etc. are paid according to the applicable rules for rent payment in the Government of Greenland and the municipality's properties, etc. in Greenland. If permanent staff housing cannot be made available immediately upon commencement, employees entitled to temporary housing will be offered a temporary vacant housing, for which rent, utilities, etc. are paid according to the above.
