Greenland Police is looking for a Greenlandic-speaking intern for the Specialized Team in the Prevention Unit. The intern will work with victims of violence and trauma, participate in Victim Counseling, and contribute to the development of police work. The position is unpaid and lasts for 5 months.
Greenland Police is looking for a committed and Greenlandic-speaking intern for the Specialized Team.
The Specialized Team is part of the Prevention Unit in Greenland Police and supports the police's work with cases of domestic violence, rape, and stalking.
The team works to ensure that victims' interactions with the police are based on knowledge of trauma and trauma reactions and focuses on the support and protection measures that can assist and protect the victims after the crime. As an intern in the team, you will also have the opportunity to participate in and contribute to the development and support of Victim Counseling in Greenland.
About the position
As an intern in the Specialized Team in the Prevention Unit, your primary tasks will include:
Preparing social screenings
Conducting safety conversations and advising on support and protection measures
Participating in the daily work with Victim Counseling
Contributing to spreading knowledge about trauma and trauma reactions to the police district's various units
Supporting case processes in the police district to ensure that the police's interaction with victims is based on knowledge of trauma
About you
To be considered for the position, we expect that you:
Are pursuing a relevant education, for example, social worker or a legal education
Speak Greenlandic
Have an interest in working with people who have experienced a violent or traumatic event
Are resilient, adaptable, and committed to both personal and professional development
Are proactive and have a positive attitude
Have an understanding of the police's goals, tasks, and organizational framework
Terms
The internship period is 5 months and the working hours are up to 40 hours per week.
The specific working hours will be determined in dialogue with you and taking into account the requirements for your internship.
The intern position is unpaid.
If you reside outside Nuuk, Greenland Police can provide a shared vacant housing for the interns. You should be aware that there may be taxation on the value of the free housing.
You will cover any other travel expenses related to your internship.
It is a prerequisite for the internship that it is credit-bearing for your studies, and that you can be security cleared.
We are flexible regarding what is required from the university to transfer credits for the internship.
