There is a vacant position as a head nurse at Dr. Margrethe's Health Center in Paamiut. The position involves responsibility for coordinating and organizing nursing tasks as well as developing the staff's competencies. Applications must be submitted in PDF format no later than October 5, 2026.

HEAD NURSE FOR PAAMIUT – maybe it is YOU!

A position as a non-shift head nurse at Dr. Margrethe's Health Center (D.M.S.) in Paamiut is available for occupancy on November 1, 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter.

The health center is part of the Health Region Sermersooq.

As a head nurse, you are responsible for coordinating, planning, and organizing nursing and health professional tasks. You will also be responsible for ensuring that the established guidelines are followed in the professional and personnel areas and for developing the staff's competencies. You will also be responsible for contributing to a good and constructive collaboration internally and externally.

The primary task of the health center is consultations for the city's citizens, vaccination of children, supervision of school classes, monitoring of chronically ill patients and pregnant women. There is no elective surgery on site, but minor procedures are performed. There is full equipment for emergency surgery on site, should the weather prevent an evacuation.

The health center serves as an emergency room in the evening and night hours.

  • Has an interest in leadership, preferably leadership experience
  • Is flexible; independent and outgoing
  • Has good collaboration skills – also across professional boundaries
  • Is calm and well-balanced

Leadership experience is an advantage, but not a requirement.

About us:

  • We are a group of several health professionals, including nurses, health assistants, a physiotherapist, and two medical students
  • There is one designated doctor position
  • We have close collaboration with Dr. Ingrid's Health Center in Nuuk during the evening and night hours

Paamiut is a southern Greenlandic town with about 1250 people.

The area is characterized by magnificent nature and offers opportunities for hiking and sailing. In the area around Paamiut, you will have opportunities to see seals, whales, reindeer, and sea eagles.

Housing will be provided according to the rules applicable in the Greenlandic Health Service at any given time.

Salary and employment

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

Citizenship

If you are not a Nordic citizen, please note that employment is conditional on a valid residence and work permit. A residence and work permit can only be applied for upon agreed employment.
