The Social Authority is seeking a supervisor for foster families in Nuuk. The position involves supervision, counseling, and training for foster families working with placed children and youth. You must have experience with supervision and a relevant education in the social field.
Foster parents take on a large and important task, so that children and young people who are placed outside their homes receive the best possible care and support. This can sometimes be a difficult task, and foster parents may need to discuss the situation and talk about how they can manage the care task. To prevent breakdowns early in the placement and to ensure that foster families and children have the best conditions for a successful placement, we are looking for a supervisor who will provide supervision to municipal foster families.
About the position
You will be part of the Social Agency's Foster Family Team, which consists of 5 consultants in total along with a supervisor, who among other things conducts basic courses for new foster parents and qualification courses for municipal foster families, as well as supports municipal foster family consultants with advice, guidance, and supervision, as well as conducting case management courses.
As a supervisor, your primary tasks will consist of:
- Providing individual and group supervision to foster families.
- Coordinating the supervision offers.
- Providing advice and guidance to foster families on how to handle the child and young person's behavior or issues, e.g., reactions related to contact with biological parents, outwardly reactive behavior, grief, or trauma.

- Providing advice, guidance, and support to foster families regarding conflict management.
- Developing teaching materials for group supervision as well as conducting group supervision.

About you
It would be ideal if you have extensive experience in providing supervision and group supervision to individuals working with children and young people, and thus can give foster parents advice and guidance on how to best help a child thrive, as well as supervision and advice regarding thoughts and feelings related to the care task.
You have a holistic approach to the individual and can provide competent guidance and advice on, for example, care, setting boundaries, and collaboration, as well as how to handle difficult situations with a child or young person.
We expect you to:
- Have a relevant education in the social field, e.g., as a pedagogue, social worker, psychologist, or similar.
- Have relevant further education in supervision, preferably within solution-focused and mentalization-based approaches.
