The Social Pedagogical Seminar is seeking a teacher for creative and aesthetic subjects in Ilulissat. The position involves planning and conducting lessons as well as assessing students' assignments. Relevant education and experience in pedagogy and teaching are required.

We are looking for a teacher in creative and aesthetic subjects with primary responsibility for teaching music, drama, workshop subjects, and shaping in social pedagogical education.

PI/SPS covers all of Greenland with the following significant functional areas:

The Social Pedagogical Seminar (PI/SPS) has departments in Ilulissat and Nuuk, with its headquarters in Ilulissat. The seminar has around 50 employees and approximately 300 students spread across eight programs.

The programs include: early childhood education assistant program, social worker program, social assistant program, professional bachelor's degree in social pedagogy, pedagogical assistant program, counseling assistant program, advisor in social work, and the pedagogical diploma program.

Teacher tasks:

We are looking for a teacher with strong abilities in coordination, flexibility, and collaboration, as well as an interest in continuous development.

A teacher who can inspire students to use music, drama, movement, workshop, and shaping activities as pedagogical methods and create meaningful learning and development environments for different target groups.

The teacher plans and conducts teaching and participates in scheduling. Additionally, it is part of the tasks to read and assess students' written assignments in connection with exams.

You will be part of a teaching team at PI/SPS, where you will have the opportunity to influence and further develop the teaching in line with the seminar's vision of contributing to and making a difference in the social pedagogical practice field throughout Greenland. Travel activity is expected in connection with teaching and courses.

It will be an advantage if you have experience from pedagogical work and/or teaching in the adult education sector.

We expect that you:

  • Have a relevant education at a minimum bachelor's level, e.g., as a pedagogue, teacher, or in a related pedagogical field.

  • Are prepared to teach broadly and, as needed, take on teaching in other pedagogical subjects than the creative and aesthetic subjects.

  • Are prepared to plan and conduct courses and continuing education activities within the seminar's subject areas.

  • Have experience with teaching in creative and aesthetic subjects.

  • Master music, drama, workshop work, and/or shaping.

  • Can translate creative activities into pedagogical practice.

  • Can inspire students to use creative expressions in their future profession.

  • Have experience from and knowledge of Greenland

  • Have a positive approach as well as trust and responsibility

  • Have good collaboration skills and a solution-oriented approach

  • Are bilingual in Greenlandic and Danish

Salary and employment conditions
Salary - and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and departure travel and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in effect at the time of appointment between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
For an applicant with the right documentable competencies, employment may occur as a special consultant, chief consultant, or senior advisor in accordance with the applicable collective agreement

Housing
An unfurnished staff housing can be assigned to the position according to the applicable rules at any time. Housing cannot be assigned to individuals who already have staff housing or another housing owned by the municipality or the Government of Greenland. Rent and deposit are paid according to the applicable rules for the assigned housing. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.

Rent and housing standards may vary depending on the age of the housing, ownership conditions, etc. There may be waiting time for the assignment of permanent staff housing, which is why temporary accommodation may occur, including in smaller housing cooperatives or hotel apartments, for which taxation occurs. It is not possible to keep larger pets such as dogs or cats in staff or temporary housing.
