For our school in Ittoqqortoormiit, Ejnar Mikkelsenila Aluarpia, we are looking for a skilled and dedicated qualified teacher.

We are a school with about 72 students, 13 teachers, and a school principal. We provide education from 1st to 10th grade.

Ittoqqortoormiit, with just over 300 inhabitants, is located by the world's largest fjord, far north of the Arctic Circle. It is one of the most remote towns in the world. Here you can get a position where, in addition to contributing to the development of the school, you will have ample opportunity to become a central player in the students' formation and academic development.

Content of the positions:

We are looking for a qualified teacher. Since the teaching staff is limited, one must expect to teach subjects other than their main subjects. In addition, one must be able to take on the role of class teacher and other functions as agreed. We are looking for someone who can teach at all levels.

The tasks are solved in close collaboration with the school's other teachers, management, and other staff, as well as the school's parents.

Criminal and Child Certificate:

The position is covered by the law requiring the collection of criminal and child certificates. According to the law, employment can only begin when the municipality has received satisfactory criminal and child certificates. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the child certificate from the National Police and the criminal record from the Police.

The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal record is obtained by the individual from the Police.

Salary and employment conditions:

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Government of Greenland, according to the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

The employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.

Employment:

If you are currently employed as a civil servant, you have the opportunity to continue as a civil servant according to applicable rules and agreements with us. For collective agreement employment, the probation period is 1 year. For both collective agreement employment and civil servant employment, earned salary seniority is counted after passing the teacher examination. Employment will be as a civil servant or according to the "Collective Agreement between Naalakkersuisut and IMAK for teachers in public schools, etc."

Fixed-term employment:

You will be employed under special fixed-term conditions according to the agreement of February 16, 2007, on employment under special fixed-term conditions. Additionally, a non-pensionable severance amount of DKK 18,000.00 is provided as an annual base amount from April 1, 1991, for every 12 months of employment. The amount is adjusted as special supplements and amounts to DKK 20,253.67 annually as of April 1, 2017. The severance amount is paid monthly along with the salary and deposited into a blocked account in a Greenlandic financial institution.

Relocation travel:

Upon employment, free relocation travel is provided for the employee and their family, and the earliest after 3 years, a corresponding severance travel, as well as moving allowances according to applicable rules.

For both forms of employment, the employee is covered by a separate agreement on group life.

Housing:

There will be staff housing available for the position, for which a deposit and rent, utilities, etc., are paid according to the applicable rules for rent payment in the properties of the Government of Greenland and the municipality in Greenland. If permanent staff housing cannot be made available immediately upon commencement, temporary housing will be offered to employees entitled to vacation housing, for which rent, utilities, etc., are paid according to the above. The start date is dependent on when a staff housing is available. Relocation travel and moving allowances are provided according to applicable rules.
