Gynecological/Obstetric Chief Physician Wanted for Queen Ingrid's Hospital, Nuuk

Your professional expertise is particularly utilized when you participate in consultant trips to Greenland's other towns, where you examine and treat patients locally at the district hospitals.
Together with the other chief physicians, you will also be on call within your specialty.

The surgical area, under which gynecology/obstetrics falls, has training positions in collaboration with the Region of Southern Denmark in general medicine and the departments' specialties. In gynecology/obstetrics, there are thus both doctors in main training and introductory positions, as well as medical students from Aarhus University.

We are looking for you who:

• Are a specialist with broad gynecological/obstetric training. This is, however, not a requirement
• Preferably have subspecialization within obstetric or gynecological subspecialties
• Are proactive, communicative, and have a motivating work approach
• Are interested in and have experience in the educational field

About us:

The obstetric department has approximately 600 births annually, including mothers from Nuuk, as well as all high-risk births from the coastal towns. The department is the only birthplace in Greenland with obstetric specialist coverage. The obstetric outpatient clinic has about 400 annual consultations, including fetal medicine consultations with amniocentesis.

The gynecological department performs approximately 500 surgeries annually. Additionally, 2-300 surgeries at the coastal hospitals. The operating department in Nuuk is newly built with state-of-the-art equipment. Primarily general and uro-gynecological surgeries are performed. It is not expected that the applicant masters all surgeries. Furthermore, the department handles the primary assessment/treatment within gynecological oncology and infertility treatment.

The gynecological outpatient clinic consists of about 500 specialist consultations and about 500 supervised resident consultations.

Ten residents are attached to the surgical area in a 24-hour coverage duty scheme.

The surgical area is a general surgical department, consisting of a parenchymal surgical, an otological, an orthopedic surgical, and a gynecological/obstetric department with a total of 11 specialists (three surgeons, two otologists, three orthopedic surgeons, and three gynecologists).

Housing will be provided according to the rules applicable in the Greenlandic healthcare system at any given time.

Salary and employment

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to travel for relocation and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement applicable at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

If you are not a Nordic citizen, please note that employment is conditional upon a valid residence and work permit. A residence and work permit can only be applied for upon agreed employment.
