The position can be filled from November 1, 2026, or by further agreement. The position may possibly be filled in a temporary position of a minimum of 4 months duration.
The weekly working hours are 40 hours in alternating day, evening, and night shifts. There will be on-call duty every 2nd weekend. If you are new to psychiatry, you can receive a special introductory program.
A1 is a psychiatric department that receives both acute and planned patients from all over Greenland. We have room for 12 patients with mental disorders, of which 3 are in a secured section. The psychiatric department is managed daily by a head nurse. About 22 employees are employed; nurses, health assistants, educators, and physiotherapists/occupational therapists. In the department, we work on the development of psychiatric care and milieu therapy. We focus on self-supporting nursing, patient and medication safety, contact person function, conflict management, relationships and networks, involving the patient in the treatment process, and psycho-education.
As an assistant, you will be responsible for the task of contact person for a smaller group of patients in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. You will need to contribute with frameworks and structure for everyday life and, in collaboration with the patient, develop coping plans, observe psychopathology, document, and conduct self-supporting conversations. You will need to administer medication within your area of competence. You will assist in training and retraining daily skills for the patients. In the discharge phase, you will focus with the patient on the good life outside the hospital.
We have based our work on the values of the Health Service: Respect, Care, Trust, and Professionalism. We emphasize that you contribute to a good and safe working environment in your work and collaboration.
The psychiatric department is part of the psychiatric area in Greenland and is located at Greenland's National Hospital Queen Ingrid's Hospital.
