The position is for 40 hours weekly with working hours Monday to Friday from 08:00-16:00.

Sungiusarfik Ikinngut is a nationwide residential institution for young people and adults with physical, mental, intellectual, and/or sensory disabilities. The institution consists of three departments as well as a protected workshop with a small bakery.

As a new janitor, you will play a central role in the daily operations of Sungiusarfik Ikinngut. You will be responsible for ensuring that buildings and outdoor areas are safe and well-maintained, as well as providing good service to both residents and staff.

The janitor's primary tasks

• Maintenance of buildings and outdoor areas as well as minor repair tasks.
• Daily supervision of heating and ventilation systems.
• Snow removal and graveling during the winter period.
• Miscellaneous practical tasks, purchasing, and transportation of residents.
• Supervision of fire extinguishing equipment and escape routes.
• Supervision of storage rooms and sheds.
• Supervision and maintenance of boat, snowmobile, and cabin.
• Close collaboration with the top management and department heads at Sungiusarfik Ikinngut.

We expect that the person hired:

• Is practically oriented and can handle many different tasks (a trade education, e.g., as a carpenter, is an advantage but not a requirement).
• Is friendly, welcoming, and has a desire to work with people with special needs.
• Can work independently, take initiative, and adapt to changing tasks throughout the year.
• Has a valid driver's license.
• Has experience as a janitor or in similar work.
• Is physically and mentally robust.

Salary and employment conditions

Salary and employment conditions will be determined in accordance with applicable agreements between the Government of Greenland and the relevant professional organization at the time of employment.

No staff housing will be provided in connection with the position.
