Employment as a civil servant with housing

Employment will primarily occur under collective agreement terms, where applicants who may already be civil servants under the civil servant laws for the public Greenland may be employed under civil servant terms.

Salary and employment terms, including the right to travel for joining and leaving and moving expenses, in accordance with the collective agreement applicable at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

Civil servants in the state and employees under a number of AC agreements, including the agreement between DJØF and the Ministry of Finance, have the right to unpaid leave in connection with employment under the Government of Greenland. The Ministry of the Interior has also recommended that municipalities and regions show consideration for applications for unpaid leave in connection with employment under the Government of Greenland. The provisions on unpaid leave also include spouses/partners of individuals employed under the Government of Greenland.
For an applicant with the right documentable competencies, employment can occur as a special consultant, chief consultant, or senior advisor in accordance with the applicable collective agreement.

The working hours are primarily 40 hours weekly, and there is an obligation of availability attached to the position of (INSERT NUMBER) annually and (INSERT NUMBER) quarterly, and the provisions on compensation for lost days off do not apply.
 
Housing
An unfurnished staff housing can be assigned to the position according to the rules applicable at any given time. Housing cannot be assigned to individuals who already have staff housing or another housing owned by the municipality or the Government of Greenland. Rent and deposit are paid according to the rules applicable at any given time for the assigned housing. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.

Rent and housing standards may vary depending on the age of the housing, ownership conditions, etc. There may be a waiting period for the assignment of permanent staff housing, which is why temporary accommodation may occur, including in smaller co-housing or hotel apartments, for which taxation applies.
