Do you want to help make a positive difference for citizens with special needs?
The Department of Welfare and Labor Market is seeking an employee for the Competence Development Center in Nuuk. The center is a recently established initiative, and you will have the opportunity to play a central role in the startup of the service.
The Competence Development Center is aimed at citizens aged 16 – 28 years with special needs, including individuals with mental disorders, autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, or other cognitive and social challenges.
The positions are full-time (40 hours weekly) with working hours primarily during the day. You will be part of a small team of about 3 employees and a leader.
Purpose and vision
The purpose of the center is to create a local service that works to help citizens with disabilities to master a more independent life and improve their opportunities for employment or further education. The vision is to offer a year-long program that provides participants with some of the tools they need to participate more actively in society.
Job responsibilities
As an employee at the Competence Development Center, you will work to support citizens in their development in close collaboration with colleagues and other partners. Your primary tasks will be to:
·Plan and implement learning processes and activities that strengthen citizens' social and professional skills
·Work on building citizens' self-esteem and motivation for more active participation in society, including employment and education
·Tailor the processes to the individual citizen's needs and challenges
·Support the development of practical skills, daily tasks, and coping with personal challenges related to their disabilities
·Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to the development of the center's methods and content
Qualifications and personal profile
We are looking for an employee who:
·Is educated as a pedagogue, teacher, or has other relevant experience with the target group
·Has practical experience with the target group, can adapt, and is creative in your approach to the individual
·Is patient, empathetic, and has a strong ability to build relationships
·Is collaborative, welcoming, and remains calm in challenging situations
·Can work both independently and in teams, and takes responsibility for your own tasks
·Is structured and goal-oriented in your work
·Is bilingual (Greenlandic and Danish) is an advantage, but not a requirement

Criminal record:
This position is subject to the law requiring a criminal record check. According to the law, employment can only begin once the municipality has received a criminal record. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the criminal record from the Police.
Salary and employment conditions:
Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Government of Greenland, according to the agreement/collective agreement in effect at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
Employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.

No staff housing can be provided for the position.
