Head Nurse for ‘Pakkaluaq’ - Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Team and Adult Psychologist Team

We are looking for a committed and development-oriented head nurse to lead the Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Team and the adult psychologist team associated with Pakkaluaq, an outpatient unit under the Psychiatric Area at Dr. Ingrid's Hospital in Nuuk.

The position is desired to be filled as soon as possible or by further agreement.

The Psychiatric Area is facing significant development in the coming years and expects to move into a new psychiatric building in 2027/2028. The new building will accommodate both outpatient functions and a new child and adolescent ward.

The head nurse will play a central role in the planning, establishment, and subsequent management of the child and adolescent ward in close collaboration with the other management in the Psychiatric Area.

About the position

As head nurse, you will be the daily leader of the outpatient team in Pakkaluaq, consisting of child and adolescent psychologists, adult psychologists, patient coordinators, and interpreters.

The team is responsible for the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents referred with suspected child and adolescent psychiatric disorders – primarily ADHD/ADD, autism, anxiety, and depression – as well as therapeutic outpatient courses for adult patients.

The position also encompasses a significant strategic and developmental responsibility in relation to the establishment of the upcoming child and adolescent ward in New Psychiatry. You will help develop the professional frameworks, workflows, and organization of the ward as well as manage the leadership structure leading up to and after the move into the new psychiatric building.

Thus, you will have a key position in ensuring coherence between outpatient and inpatient child and adolescent psychiatric services.

About the Psychiatric Area

The Psychiatric Area is responsible for the assessment, treatment, and follow-up of patients with psychiatric disorders throughout Greenland, including via telepsychiatry. The area is in ongoing development with a focus on high professional quality, coherent patient pathways, and strengthening treatment offerings.

The new psychiatric building is expected to be completed during 2027/2028. Here, all psychiatric functions will be gathered under one roof, and child and adolescent psychiatry will be strengthened through the establishment of both outpatient services and a dedicated child and adolescent ward.

Qualifications

We expect that you:

• Are a trained nurse
• Have experience from psychiatry – preferably both adult and child and adolescent psychiatry
• Have leadership and organizational experience
• Work independently and take responsibility
• Have the desire and ability for interdisciplinary collaboration
• Experience with development work and quality improvement is an advantage.

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement applicable at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
