Tasiilami Alivarpi is looking for a vice principal for a three-tier school with about 318 students and 55 teachers located on Greenland's east coast. The school includes children from 1st to 10th grade and several special classes. Management team consisting of 1 principal, 2 vice principals, and 3 department heads.
The school includes children from 1st to 10th grade, divided into 3 tiers: youngest tier from 1st to 3rd grade, middle tier from 4th to 7th grade, and oldest tier from 8th to 10th grade and several special classes.

About the job and your responsibilities
As vice principal, you will be a central part of the school's overall management team. You will have your own primary responsibilities while actively participating in the overall strategic and daily management of the school.
Your primary tasks will be:
•Responsibility and supervision of the school's student home:
You have the overall view of the student home. You ensure that the placed and visiting students have safe, structured, and developmental frameworks outside of school hours. You work closely with the staff at the student home.
•Staff management:
You handle the daily, close staff management for selected staff groups. You motivate, support, and assist employees in their pedagogical everyday life.
•Substitute coverage and schedule:
You are responsible for the school's substitutes. This includes the daily coordination of substitute coverage in case of illness and absence, so the school day runs as smoothly as possible.
•General operations and management:
You participate in the school's general administrative operations, including planning, behavior and well-being management, as well as parent cooperation.

•Have an educational background as a teacher, preferably supplemented with management experience or a leadership education
•Have experience with or a great interest in working with children and young people in student homes
•Are structured, action-oriented, and maintain an overview – even when the substitute plan needs to be arranged in the morning
•Communicate appreciatively and are able to create good relationships with both employees, students, parents, and external partners
•It is a great advantage if you are bilingual (Greenlandic/Danish) and have knowledge of the Greenlandic public school, but it is not a requirement

Criminal and Child Certificate:
The position is covered by the law on the obligation to obtain a criminal and child certificate. According to the law, employment can only begin when the municipality has received a satisfactory criminal and child certificate. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon when the municipality has received the child certificate from the National Police as well as the criminal certificate from the Police.
The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal certificate is obtained by the individual from the Police.
Salary and employment conditions:
Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Government of Greenland, according to the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
Employment will be with a 3-month probation period
Employment:
If you are currently employed as a civil servant, you have the opportunity to continue as a civil servant according to applicable rules and agreements with us. In the case of collective agreement employment, the probation period is 1 year. For both collective agreement employment and civil servant employment, earned salary seniority is counted after passing the teacher examination. Employment is as a civil servant or according to the "Collective Agreement between the Naalakkersuisut and IMAK for teachers in public schools, etc."
Fixed-term employment:
You will be employed on special fixed-term conditions according to the agreement of February 16, 2007, on employment under special fixed-term conditions. Additionally, a non-pensionable severance amount of DKK 18,000.00 is provided as an annual base amount as of April 1, 1991, per 12 months of employment. The amount is adjusted as special supplements and amounts to DKK 20,253.67 annually as of April 1, 2017. The severance amount is paid monthly along with the salary and deposited into a blocked account in a Greenlandic financial institution.
Relocation travel:
Upon employment, free relocation travel is provided for the employee and their family, and earliest after 3 years, a corresponding severance travel, as well as relocation compensation according to applicable rules.
For both forms of employment, the employee is covered by a separate agreement on group life.
Housing:
There will be staff housing available for the position, for which a deposit and rent, utilities, etc. are paid according to the applicable rules for rent payment in the properties of the Government of Greenland and the municipality in Greenland. If permanent staff housing cannot be made available immediately upon commencement, employees entitled to temporary housing will be offered temporary housing, for which rent, utilities, etc. are paid according to the above. The start date is dependent on when a staff housing becomes available. Relocation travel and moving expenses are provided according to applicable rules.
