Ilisimatusarfik is looking for a study advisor/psychotherapist to support students in their educational journey. The position involves coordinating well-being initiatives and providing counseling. As a student advisor/psychotherapist, under the Department of Study Services, your role is to gather and develop Ilisimatusarfik's support for students.

We are looking for a student advisor/psychotherapist for Ilisimatusarfik as soon as possible. The working hours are 40 hours a week.

About Study Services:
We are in Study Services, 12 employees serving approximately 600 active students across 12 programs.

The university's administration, of which Study Services is a part, plays a very important role in the organization and helps support students, teachers, colleagues, citizens, and partners. It is important that you see your role in relation to a group of different people, but keep in mind that first and foremost we are here for our students - and we are here when they need help.

Your responsibilities
You will have overall responsibility for coordinating and developing initiatives for student well-being and educational choices:

  • Help students complete their education by holding group discussions, presentations, and similar activities

  • Must be able to supervise department heads in connection with conversations with students

  • Assist the other student advisor in helping students at the start of their education and throughout their studies as well as in choosing their next steps in life.

  • Assist the other student advisor in ensuring coherence in students' educational paths

  • Develop procedures and guidelines regarding offerings for students

  • Hold internal courses/information campaigns

  • Develop a mental first aid package

  • Documentation

  • Minor administrative work

  • Ad hoc tasks

We are looking for someone who…

  • Is educated as an advisor/social worker/psychotherapist or similar

  • Has experience working with students

  • Greenlandic at native level as well as Danish and English

  • Is passionate about helping young people and adults

  • Has the desire and ability for interdisciplinary collaboration

  • Is socially inclined and has good social skills

  • Understands the importance of also being able to collaborate with all departments at Ilisimatusarfik

  • Has knowledge of Greenlandic society and Greenlandic culture

About Ilisimatusarfik
Ilisimatusarfik, Greenland's University, was established in 1987 and currently offers 13 different programs including some part-time programs at both diploma and master's level. Ilisimatusarfik is an Arctic university that creates knowledge and innovation in a region undergoing rapid development. The board is the university's highest management. The daily management is handled by the rector and university director. The four institutes are led by an institute head, who is advised by an institute council.

  • Institute of Society, Economy & Journalism

  • Institute of Culture, Language & History

  • Institute of Health & Nature

About the Joint Administration
The Joint Administration serves the entire university. It is led by the university director. The Joint Administration has departments in Ilimmarfik. The departments work closely with the academic units, but also collaborate with each other. The tasks of the Joint Administration are: study administration, personnel administration, servicing the board and Academic Council, as well as other service functions for the university's employees and students. The Joint Administration is also responsible for the building operations of Ilimmarfik. 

Salary and employment conditions

Salary - and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement applicable at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

Housing

No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Government, the right to assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
