The Department of Children, Youth, Justice, and Equality is seeking a ministerial secretary with strong organizational skills and political understanding. The position involves coordinating meetings, providing administrative support, and closely collaborating with management. Start date is October 1 or by agreement.

The Department of Children, Youth, Justice, and Gender Equality is seeking a committed and responsible ministerial secretary who can ensure effective and professional service to the Minister for Children, Youth, Justice, and Gender Equality.

Start date: October 1 or by further agreement.

About the position:

The ministerial secretary acts as a personal assistant to the Minister and is responsible for ensuring that their daily operations function as optimally as possible. The position involves practical coordination, administrative support, and close collaboration with both political and administrative actors.

You will report directly to the Minister for Children, Youth, Justice, and Gender Equality and work closely with the executive secretary and the management group in the Department.

Job responsibilities:

  • Coordination of the Minister's calendar, meetings, and travel activities
  • Planning and preparation of meetings and official trips, including travel programs
  • Preparation of speaking points, meeting materials, invitations, and press releases
  • Participation in meetings and trips as needed. Preparation of minutes/notes for meetings without professionals
  • Updating meeting materials and materials for the Inatsisartut's sessions, etc.
  • Contact with the press
  • Political advice as requested
  • Ad hoc tasks
  • Has a relevant administrative or social science education
  • Has experience with communication
  • Has experience from political service or public administration
  • Works in a structured manner and maintains an overview in a busy environment
  • Has strong written and oral communication skills
  • Is flexible, discreet, and professional
  • Masters Greenlandic and Danish at a high level
  • A central and meaningful role close to the political decision-making process

Salary and employment conditions
Salary - and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and departure travel and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement applicable at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization. For an applicant with the right documentable competencies, employment can occur as a special consultant, chief consultant, or senior advisor in accordance with the applicable
collective agreement

Housing
Unfurnished staff housing can be allocated for the position according to the rules in force at any time. Housing cannot be allocated to individuals who already have staff housing or another property owned by the municipality or the Government of Greenland. Rent and deposit are paid according to the rules in force for the allocated housing. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
Rent and housing standards may vary depending on the age of the property, ownership conditions, etc. There may be a waiting period for the allocation of permanent staff housing, which is why temporary accommodation may occur, including in smaller co-housing or hotel apartments, for which taxation applies. It is not possible to keep larger pets such as dogs or cats in staff or temporary housing.
