Nurse with experience from psychiatry sought for Christmas and New Year temporary position

Are you adventurous, do you want to experience something new in your working life, and do you have an interest in traveling with professionalism while experiencing the beautiful Greenlandic nature and culture? And not least the magical Christmas and festive New Year under the polar sky, while you work in Greenland's only psychiatric department? Then you have the opportunity now.

Are you a nurse with experience in or specialized training in psychiatry and can you answer yes to most of the points below:

  • Do you like acute psychiatry?
  • Do you like to work with long and coherent patient pathways?
  • Do you like to use your professionalism?
  • Do you like to help support structure, safety, and contribute to professional development?

Then a temporary position from December 14, 2026, to January 8, 2027, at the psychiatric department of Dronning Ingrids Hospital in Nuuk might be something for you.

The Psychiatry in Greenland

The psychiatric area consists of a department, a therapy, and an outpatient function aimed at children, adolescents, and adults in outpatient pathways with psychiatrists and psychologists. There is a district psychiatry, which is distributed across the Greenlandic health regions. The department receives both acute and elective patients from the regions and treats all forms of mental disorders.

We have room for 12 patients with severe mental disorders, including 3 patients in a sheltered section. The psychiatric department is led daily by a visible and accessible department nurse. About 22 employees are employed, distributed among nurses, psychiatric and health assistants, and educators. In the department, we work with I-supportive nursing, contact person arrangements, strengthening the patient's relationships and networks, milieu therapy, and psychoeducation as the basis for good psychiatric nursing. Likewise, initiatives to promote safety and voluntariness in treatment and a good working environment are highly prioritized.

If the periods do not quite suit you, please write to ABKJ@PEQQIK.GL and inform us of your possibilities.

You are entitled to 3 months of leave under an agreement between Danish Regions, the State, and the Municipalities in Denmark if you are employed by them.

We offer:

  • Introduction and involvement in the development of psychiatric nursing.
  • An innovative and active professional environment
