Be part of making a difference for patients from Greenland undergoing treatment and assessment in Denmark.

Are you a student with an interest in the social field, and do you thrive both with administrative tasks and close contact with people? Then you might be our new hourly paid employee at the Greenlandic Patient Home.

The patients you will work closely with are characterized by being 3000 km away from their homeland. They come for assessment and treatment for many different diseases that require special care. The treatment takes place in hospitals in the Capital Region. The Greenlandic Patient Home serves as a temporary home for referred patients. Some of the patients have never been to Denmark before, and your support is needed to assist with their stay on various fronts.

An important part of the social effort is to support, help, and guide the patients in mastering everyday life and the specific challenges they experience during their stay in Denmark. In close and trusting collaboration with the patients and relevant partners, the focus is on developing and/or maintaining a level of functioning, independence, and integrity while minimizing issues.

You will be part of a house with various interdisciplinary partners, consisting of service staff, administrative employees, nurses, social and health assistants, physiotherapists, various departments in the hospitals, the healthcare system in Greenland, and the municipalities in Greenland.

Together with your colleagues in the social team, you will be among the first that patients, colleagues, and guests meet when they enter the Greenlandic Patient Home.

About the position

The position is an hourly wage employment. You will need to be trained in day shifts on weekdays, as well as with our regular evening shifts. Afterward, you will be able to cover for holidays, courses, or illness. You will also need to work approximately every 4-6 weekends. Evening and night work may occur. You report to the professional leader.

Your tasks

• Administrative tasks such as registration, record-keeping, and follow-up
• Coordination and practical planning related to the patients' stay
• Reception and support for patients and relatives
• Assisting in creating a safe and good environment for the patients
• Collaboration with colleagues and external partners
• Interpretation (Danish-Greenlandic)

We expect that you:

• Are a student in, for example, social work, health professions, administration, or similar
• Have strong administrative skills and work in a structured manner
• Thrive in contact with people and show empathy and respect
• Are good at communicating – both verbally and in writing
• Are flexible and can maintain an overview in a busy everyday life
• Have an interest in Greenlandic conditions and culture and can speak Greenlandic

Salary and employment

The position is hourly paid with varying working hours by agreement.

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses, according to the agreement/collective agreement applicable at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
