We are looking for 1-2 dedicated healthcare assistants for the Medical Ward at Queen Ingrid's Hospital. The tasks include care, meal distribution, and constant supervision for patients. The position requires flexibility and the ability to work shifts. Employment can be on an hourly basis or a permanent position.

Health Assistants for Medical Ward M1 and M2 at Queen Ingrid's Hospital

We are looking for you, who is passionate about providing care and support for our patients.

We are seeking 1-2 committed and flexible health assistants in the Medical Area with a start date of September 1, 2026, or October 1, 2026.

As a health assistant in the medical ward, your main tasks will be:

  • Tasks related to meal distribution to patients.
  • Basic care of patients.
  • Constant supervision for patients who need continuous monitoring.

In the Medical Ward, we work in 3-shift rotations every day of the week, so you must be prepared for changing working hours. Care tasks are carried out as group care in teams consisting of nurses, health assistants, and health helpers. During meal distribution, there is also collaboration with our kitchen assistants. In our department, the working languages are Greenlandic, Danish, and English. Depending on your experience or preferences, there may be an option for employment on an hourly basis or permanent employment with a monthly salary.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist with care and support for patients, help with hygiene, nutrition, and mobilization
  • Distribution of meals from the meal cart considering patients' special dietary needs. Preparation of the meal cart and cleaning up after meals
  • Guiding and supporting patients and relatives
  • To be a constant supervisor for patients who need continuous monitoring
  • Cleaning and tidying as part of our daily hygiene routines
  • Rehabilitative tasks aimed at enhancing patients' functional levels and resources
  • Organizing supplies
  • Contributing to building trust and security through dialogue and conversation
  • Observing, identifying, and responding appropriately to symptoms of the most common somatic and psychological symptoms in patients

  • Is bilingual in Greenlandic and Danish
  • Can take responsibility and perform tasks on your own initiative
  • Is flexible regarding different tasks
  • Is robust and reliable

The Medical Area is led by a chief physician and a head nurse. The Medical Area includes an outpatient clinic, a day ward, and two inpatient wards with a total of 32 beds, including an integrated children's ward with eight beds.

Under the Medical Specialty, a wide range of medical conditions are included, such as heart patients, kidney patients, arthritis patients, infectious disease patients, and patients undergoing anticoagulation treatment.

You will be physically and organizationally placed in DIH's medical ward and report to the head nurses in M1 and M2.

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement applicable at the time of employment between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
